Thanks and P.S I am getting a fresh Norfolk Black free range turkey or fresh free range Goose this year for christmas. I have my christmas dinner on boxing day and get my Turkey or Goose the same day for about £7 when the full price for the suckers on christmas eve is £70. Think about what you are doing, this is austerity season. Merry Xmas all

One of Scotland’s best butchers- the sausages are out of this world! Our recommendation? Pork, leek, pancetta and cheddar. Yum.

Crombies is your typical friendly local butchers, with amazingly fresh delicious meat. I love the individual Beef Wellingtons, if you ever feel like treating yourself this is a must!

Im a ridiculously late latecomer to Crombies and have been hearing about it for years! My husband finally persuaded me to go in on Saturday and I can definetly see why there is all the fuss. They have so many different types of sausages - they have an online store where you can order from 40 different varieties! I love sausages but Im not that adventurous so I got irish pork and steak.
They were lovely and you can really tell the difference! Proper meat filled sausages. It actually says on their website that they buy proper cuts of meat in to make the sausages, they dont just use dodgy leftover bits of everything which is pretty fantastic for a sausage lover like me! My husband got a whisky flavour and hes eaten the orange flavoured ones already - (I know orange flavoured weird!) but he said they were lovely!
They also sell pretty much everything else, lovely fritters and perfect cuts of meat as you can imagine.. They are also the cleanest butchers I have ever laid eyes on - like spectacularly clean! The butchers behind the counter are so helpful and friendly as well, its such a different experience to the supermarket and its where I will be buy all my meat from now on. The only thing was they didnt have a used by date on their sausages, but I went on their website and it did say to use the sausages within 3 days otherwise freeze them.
Lovely lovely lovely! Only wish I had been in sooner.

Crombie's always has the freshest quality cut meats - as well as yummy prepared goods. The only downside is you definitely pay for that quality and it's a bit pricy....though when you're talking about meats, you don't want to skimp. From white pudding to black pudding, an impressive selection of sausages, and every steak cut under the sun, you'll find it all here - and the service is fab.

The best butchers in Edinburgh; at least as far as I am aware.
Wide variety of stock and interesting foods, and the staff are extremely helpful and willing to go 'that extra mile'.

2 years ago I looked up the internet and found Crombie's as I wanted a turkey in Edinburgh for my Brother's Family at Xmas.
I live in Vancouver Canada and although by North American prices it was expensive, (but @ the going price in the U K.) I can honestly say it was a gorgeous Turkey.
This year I will once again order another Turkey and I am sure it will be as good as the last one.
I read about the sausages and next time I get over I will make a point of trying them.To anyone reading this from abroad I can assure you Crombie's are the tops.

A great butchers, they also do hot food at lunch time, which includes pies, soup and some other hot dishes... great on a cold day!

I was told of Crombies before I even moved to the area! I gather its a bit of an institution. A mix between a butcher and a delicatessen you'll be sure to find something for a special occasion as well as tonight's tea. You pay a little more for the quality but the cheery, knowledgeable staff make it a very nice experience!

i went in and bought a selection of sausages . i purchased 6 sausages in all which came to £5.60. i thought this was really steep for six sausages, however after eating them i understood why. fantastic sausages. if you’re feeling flush then i can’t think of a better place for sausage fans.

Happily I work down the hill near Canonmills which means I have no reason to buy sausages from anywhere else.
My typical visit goes like this.
1. Walk in the door with the firm intention to buy four, maybe five sausages for dinner.
2. Am asked “Can I help you?” by a friendly butcher.
3. Proceed to um and ah for what must seem like half an hour to the poor butcher waiting for me.
4. End up leaving with a bulging sack of sausages that should keep me stocked for weeks.
Pros: they have an outrageous selection of sausages (plus some other stuff too) which changes so there’s always something new to try. The quality is excellent.
Cons: when you find a new favourite you sometimes can’t buy it the next time you go as they’ve changed their selection.

The best sausages in Edinburgh. a bit pricey but the quality justifies the price.

Crombies make the best sausges in Edinburgh, bar none. They have a huge range of them, not always stocking exactly the same ones, so I’ve sampled a lot of different ones over the years. Some of them are fairly authentic versions of well known continental sausages and others are their own invention. In any case, the quality is always high and the taste fantastic. I just won’t buy sausages anywhere else !
Apart from that Crombies are also a good general butcher and deli and equally well known for their absolutely delicious steak pies.
They also stock a range of cakes and “emergency puddings”.
Definitely put them on your list !
