Service was good and staff friendly on Sunday 7/08/11 but food was nothing to shout about. Edible is the best I can say about the food but it was cheap and looked good. Sunday roast not recommended but other food was available on the menu and perhaps we should have had that instead. Nice surroundings.

We have tried the food there every time a change of landlord or menu is announced ever since it opened and every time have been GREATLY DISAPPOINTED!!. The pub itself is nice but the food and staff are awful. The staff do not care if they keep you waiting and all the food tastes as if it was either frozen, came out of a packet or was reheated after being cooked the week before. They need to cook from fresh and give the staff training on customer service

Came here over a year ago for a meal. And quite franky was rubbish!!!. . So whenever we came back was always for just a drink. Because it really is a lovely friendly smart pub. Heard the menu had changed. . .so. . Bit the bullet and had a meal on monday. . Two for one. And was actually quite good. . For a pub meal. Ribs and chicken were quite tasty. Chips were what you would expect from pub chips. Service was friendly and efficient.. Will be going back next time to sample the drink. . And. Food!!

Went for a meal on Sunday evening, pub was not busy and initial service appeared good but went down hill drastically there after. Order taken for drink and food, then nothing. I went to the bar to complain after waiting for drinks to appear after 20 minutes and told that they were dealing with the order. then approx 5 minutes later was told that they did not have the beer I had ordered. Then 40 minutes after original order my wife was told that they had run out of her food order and would she like something else. We mentioned that we should have been told earlier and the lad!!! said that they had only just got round to our order in the kitchen.
When our food eventually arrived – chicken in the basket – we were greatly disappointed to find a few chips, 4 chicken wings (must have been a small chicken) and what looked like processed chicken in batter and a small piece at that.
When I went to pay and mentioned my concerns all I got was “Sorry”
We will not be back again and would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Wow! Had lunch there last week and it was EXCELLENT.
Had a pasta dish which was almost certainly homemade and a very good burger & chips, followed by brilliant desserts.
Easy parking and they are doing a 2 for 1 promotion.
Only one tiny critisism too much tinned muzac – I’d love to see a quiet area without it.
Definitely going back again soon.
Update 30 November 2011. Ah, sorry guys. We did go back and it was OK but no where near as good as the first time. Still very friendly and prompt service and I did notice a range of hand pulled beers which we’ll invertigate one evening.

Food what you would expect for a low budget pub. Staff rude and unhelpfull. The name of the pub should have given it away, THEY TREAT YOU LIKE CATTLE

The place was better than your average 'pub' , but spoilt by non-stop 'pop' muzak, in every area- no escape from it, don't want a squaling pop diva in my ear while I'm eating and trying to have a conversation with fellow diners. There should be a 'music free' area SOMEWHERE , esp' in a dining area . When asked to turn it down, twice - the responce was "We can't turn it down on any given area " - in other words - you're stuck with it. 'Back ground' music , of a neutral kind, low , is acceptable if it's a 'must' ... but not the racket in here at present. The veg' was a tad TOO crisp also, my wife gave up on it . I like it under done rather than over, but even I found it a 'chew' . Overall, nice enough place , but spoilt by the 'muzak' .

Went today with kids and friends for dinner and can honestly say it was the worst dining experience ive had. Every dish was awful chips burnt chicken like cardboard. Must have very inexperienced cooks and i stress cooks no chef would allow food of that poorness to leave the kitchen. Staff were rude and inconsiderate when complaining and basically said “there is nothing we can do” will be writing a letter to the parent company to complain STAY AWAY!

Recently came here for tea with friends, it was the first time I had been and it was a lot better than I expected it to be. It was 2 4 1 on main meals which was excellent value it only worked out about £4.50 each. The food was typical pub grub stuff - I got scampi I could not fault it. I also had a voucher which was on the back of a wilkinsons receipt for 2 4 1 on desserts, I got a crumble it was loverly and it worked out £1.50 with the offer. Its decorated nice inside, the staff were helpful and I would not have a problem coming here again. I gave it four stars for excellent value.

The White Heifer is pub grub and buy one get one free at that. I guess my experience is that considering we spent £5/£6 each for a steak and a fish dish, it was good value for money and my friend and I did not have any issues with the food we chose. Drinks were quite expensive but I don’t think it’s the kind of place you would go for a whole night out anyway.

The White Heifer is a good place to visit for a meal, quiet drinks or to start a night out. It is located just outside of Darlington and next to a new housing development. It offers reasonably priced meals and reasonably priced drinks. The menu offers a good choice, for either lunch or an evening meal.

The White heifer is a fairly new pub that has been open roughly a year, it has a very cosy atmosphere when you walk in with plenty of seating and a couple of soft leather couches to chill in!! The area surrounding the pub includes a co-op a dentist, pharmacy and some really trendy apartments. The pub has an area with a flat screen TV showing Sky sports news (but no live sport channels boo!!!). the food served here is good and the service is always with a smile! there is a quiz held some nights although not many people take part! this is an all round clean tidy enjoyable place to have a quiet drink

This new pub located on the new housing development of West Park in Darlington is located close to direct links into Darlington and out to the A1. It serves a good selection of pub food and drink day and night. It is a busy family pub, that is nicely decorated and popular in the area. Has various food and drink offers on different nights and the pub quiz is pretty good.
