Very ordinary with very poor service.
We (party of 4) went on Sunday for an early supper before theatre and were greeted by (apparently) the only person working front of house. No matter it wasn't busy, but it soon filled up with a mixture of clientele which proved too much for one guy to deal with. We had to go to the bar for drinks, we had to ask for menus and it was nearly an hour before we were finally shown to pur table (in an empty room upstairs.
The menu was shortened by dishes being "off" and wine had to be ordered twice as it was forgotten (as were side dishes with the main meal).
The food was nothing special, although perfectly well cooked, but the service was just appalling. As a result - we won't be back.
This place is absolutely fantastic. If you've got a fair bit of cash to splash and are after a really top-notch meal then you've got to get yourself to In Vino Veritas. I came here for the first time last month with my friends from Elwood Wines (http://bit.ly/cIuZZJ) and had what was probably the best meal I have ever eaten in Brighton.
Determined to stuff ourselves silly, we started in the bar area with the Tapas/Canape menu which included the most delicious charcuterie plate, king prawns and deep fried mozzarella (£3.95 each) along with our first bottle of wine - I think it was the Hoher Rain, Gruner Veltliner, Geyerhof (£34). Not usually to my taste (a little oaky), but a great accompaniment to the cured meats and seafood.
After this fabulous appetizer, we moved up the spiral staircase to the restaurant area. I started with the Seared Scallops (£7.85) - which were deliciously buttery and cooked to absolute perfection - before moving onto one of my favourite dishes: Rib Eye Steak with Pommes Frites and Green Peppercorn Sauce (£16.75). Divine.
Far too full for real dessert, we ended the meal in the most perfect way - with a strong, creamy liqueur coffee. After four courses and as many bottles of wine (not all to myself, I hasten to add) I felt thoroughly satisfied. Although it would take months, perhaps even years, to work through their incredibly extensive wine list (http://bit.ly/97uL46) I can't wait to go back again and start trying.

I was looking for lamb on proudrestaurants.com and this place came up...i didn't know what it was, but the profile and menu looked brilliant, not to mention the wine list. I am bored of the same selection everywhere, these guys know what good wine is!
It will take a lifetime to try all of them, but I will try my best...

In Vino Veritas in primarily a posh wine bar and has a great selection so I’m told (I dont know anything about wine I’m afraid). Its a great little north Laines venue with a a cosy candle lite atmosphere but still quiet swish and posh. There a spiral staircase that runs through the middle of the venue. They have a dining area upstairs with a modern European menu, seating is scares and the venue is popular with winos so call ahead.

I had heard from a friend that I must visit this place and when I went here for a friends birthday on the bottom floor (didn’t know it had other levels!) I was genuinely surprised at how good it was.
The wine list is extensive with many of the wines available by the glass.
And of the ones I choose - I honestly thought they were amazing considering the price.
I even drank slower to savour what I had!
I’ve heard the food is good too so will go back again if anything to try more wines.
