Lovely atmosphere. Brilliant hair cut. Request a stylist called Howard when you go. A house mate and I have both had our hair cut by him and we were both very impressed.

Review of Electric Hairdressing Brighton from 7 July 2011

Ive just been to Electric for the first time and I just had to write a review as it was one of the best salon experiences ive had in Brighton.

The salon itself is very modern and comfortable. The receptionist is very sweet and welcoming. They offer lots of lovely free drinks and talk to you like you are a human being (where as some other salons just make up that crap fake chit chat)

I had Natalie who I would highly recommend. She actually took the time to ask what I had wanted and talk through the process of how we would achieve that. She did a fantastic job and I will definately be going back.

I was first introduced to the salon when I moved here for Uni. I have always been very fussy about my hair and have little trust for hairdressers (traumatic experiences as a child!) so am very wary about who cuts my hair.

I am hooked on this place! I can't compare it to other salons in Brighton as I have vague experience but I definitely have a lot of loyalty to this place. Absolutely adore Will (art director). I've been that many times I don't even have to tell him what to do - he just does it! All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming!

Would certainly recommend.

That's a short, sweet review - my comment is longer!

Lets not make up for our natural pieces. Otherwise my review would have been MASSIVE.

Electric is so unbelievably swish, is has an amazing black on white interior decor reminiscent of the star trek enterprise. They have a bar area with leather sofas where you can have a drink while you wait, I was also given several glasses of wine while I was with my stylist.

All the staff are really friendly and helpful, also you get a fringe trip free of charge which you can pop back anytime for. The amazingness of this salon does come with a price though, you're looking at around £70 for a cut and style. It’s a really relaxing pampering sesh everytime I go, I highly recommended them.

Review of Electric Hairdressing Brighton from 9 February 2010

This is, without a doubt, the best hair salon in Brighton - and there's nothing I love more than getting my hair cut, styled and finished (except, possibly, shopping).

The salon may not look too modern from the outside, but stepping inside is a world away from the raw edginess of the surrounding Lanes. Having moved to Brighton from a village in Surrey where I'd had my hair cut in the same place for 20 years, this place looked positively space age. And in my book, any salon where you can have a glass of wine or a coffee (dependant on appointment time... or then again, maybe not) along with your haircut scores some mega points.

So, you probably want to know about the hairdressing now, yes? Each time I've had my hair cut here I've walked out the door feeling like a million dollars. These stylists know what they're doing. If something isn't going to work for you – they tell you. Unlike many salons, where you wash your hair afterwards can't possibly recreate anything like what they've managed to do with your untameable barnet, Electric's cuts actually last. I never get more compliments than when I've had my hair cut here.

At £45 for a senior stylist, it's well worth a little extra dosh. Plus, sign up to their mailing list and you'll get some great offers via email making the Electric experience even better value. It's also worth noting that they offer a 50% discount for students (which I can't tell you how much I miss) - so if you have an NUS card, make the most of it while you can!

Have you noticed that half the salons in Brighton get loads of 5-star reviews by people with just one review each and without photo? Often as a response to someone who has previously given a 1-star review?

Good that there are actually still some real people around! :)

  • hartingale, 4 May 2011:

I think there is a review war going on between the Brighton hairdressers. And because hairdressers are not rocket scientists they don't think to upload a photo and tap out a few more reviews to give their profile s bit of credibility.

This is really funky, cool looking place. This struck me even more than the hairdressing actually. They offer an NUS student discount 50% and they even upgraded me up to a head stylist for no extra charge! The hairdresser didn’t rush my hair like some often do and I really enjoyed the whole experience (especially the head massage!)
