Piazza by Anthony

We found a deal on Living Social for Anthony’s inc chateaubriand and a bottle of wine. We didn’t have a great experience the last time we went, but felt it was worth another go. We invited some friends to join us as they had not been before.

We arrived at 19:30 and had some drinks in the lovely building before sitting down at 19:45 to order. We ordered starters, mussels and duck salad which came quite quickly and was ok. After that the evening went down hill quickly as we had to wait a further hour for the main. When it finally came the chateaubriand was dry and cold, the duck was grisly and cold and the chicken was rubbery and cold. We complained about the food being cold which was taken away to be re-heated. When the food came back it was no hotter and we were so hungry we had all eaten our sides during the wait.

At this point we asked for the manager who came across to discuss the problems. We explained the events and she started to justify the food and service as being as it should be. We then asked to speak with Anthony as we could not believe that he would be happy with this level of food and service, but we were told he would not come to see us (far too important to deal with customer complaints!). We flat refused to pay for the mains which were begrudgingly removed from the bill. We ended up getting a McDonalds and apologising to our friends for such a terrible evening.

Excellent food, lovely surroundings, vibrant atmosphere!

Try the new Guinea pig night on Mondays- 12 of us went and had a fantastic evening- the concept is - 3 courses for £20 (amazing value) and you don't know what you are getting till it arrives at the table!!
Friendly staff do ask about allergies and dislikes as you sit down so you shouldn't get something you are really averse to. You are allowed to swap dishes between your table and at the end of the meal you get to leave your comments on the dishes! They do a guinea pig bottle of wine and a cocktail too so it's great for those who like to experiment with food and are happy to try new flavours.
More places should do this kind of thing.
One wish- that more veggies were supplied or offered with the mains!! If you don't know what you are getting then it's hard to know what sides you may want.

Just had a fantastic weekend in Leeds including dinner at Piazza.
The food was 'outstanding', well presented and very tasty. The service was excellent and friendly making it an altogether great experience. Thanks!
