BRILLIANT !!
The best cinema in Newcastle, the best casino in Newcastle and some pretty decent bars to boot. Oh and the choice of restaurants is exceptional, if not expensive. I really don't understand where a lot of the negative reviews are coming from, guess they just had a bad night out - a quintessential visit for all Newcastle tourists and locals.
avoid avoid avoid! racism is bad among door staff there and so is stealing..best head to the big market..... better atmosphere.
It was one of the first sights recommended to us by the hostel staff upon our arrival. To our disappointment the building was rather small, something close to Vue cinema in Edinburgh, full of restaurants and bars on the ground floor and a cinema on the top floor. What I liked most were the friendly faces of the locals who tried to chat us while we were passing by.
This is a lovely place to spend the day with your family, as it has many restaurants as well as a fantastic cinema complex on the top floor. Also there are great parking facilities so that you do not have to worry about your vehicle. This perfect for spending quality time with someone you love.
The Gate is a modest collection of bars, restaurants and a cinema based in the centre of Newcastle. Although its conveniently placed for the cinema and bars, the restaurants within the complex are generally overrated and overpriced. The Spice Cube being a particular example. A few good bars, however on Friday or Saturday night they get rammed and there can be quite a bit of fighting outside due to the clientele they attract.
The Gate Newcastle is home to a range of bars, a cinema, restaurants and a club, Mood. It is located amongst other bars and is popular with students. The variety of restaurants is very good, although some can be expensive, as can be said about the bars. The venue can get very busy on an evening.
The Gate has good cinema which is quite expensive if you go at peak times. There is also a number of bars and restaurants in the complex such as Pizza Hut, Ask…
It is quite a modern building but from the outside, it does look very dark inside it.
This place isn’t the cheapest option for a night out but it isn’t the worst.
A bit dark inside during the day but at night, everything’s lit up and ready to go. With more bars and restaurants than you can shake a chav at, you’ve got everything you need to keep you entertained. The cinema upstairs is also handy too. Especially on Wednesdays (thanks orange). A great place to go to watch a film and grab a bite to eat right downstairs afterwards! Also pretty close to haymarket bus and metro stations that will pretty much take you anywhere…
A good all round entertainments complex that has something to offer for most people.Whether your’e after something to eat or want to see the latest movie, fancy a drink or a gamble you can do them all here. It’s easily accessible by bus or Metro and there is a taxi rank outside. If you want parking there is underground parking which is secure but pricy.I’d avoid it if I were you.Only downside is it gets a bit rowdy sometimes..
Bit dark and dingy but good for a pre-cinema pint or coffee. Foods a bit meh and it can take a while to get it, but it’s better than most in the Gate. Choice of drinks isn’t bad either and neither are the prices.
The gate contains may restaurants and clubs as well as a large cinema, The cinema is quite expensive but dosent break the bank and the resteraunts are all really good and wel priced, a personal fave of mine is Wok mania a chinese buffet. Also there are a number of clubs on the ground floor, including players.
The Gate is quite a nice modern complex in Newcastle. It includes restaurants such as Frankie and Bennys and Pizza hut. There are a few bars on the bottom floor and a casino on the top floor. It has its own secure underground car park that is very expensive. On the top floor is a Vue cinema. It is good because it has quite late showings and they are quite regular. It’s a great place to go for a night out as there is quite a lot to chose from. Pizza and the pictures is a good combination. It has a taxi rank outside and is easily accessible by car.
Another soulless glass building full of chains, redeemed only by the fact that the casino, Asper’s, is one of the best I’ve been to in the country - it has an electric atmosphere every night, and is not one of those dingy places filled with desperate people shouting at the croupier when they lose their money. people are genuinely there for a good time. The rest of the Gate isn’t really worth visiting, apart from the cinema, which has a pretty decent selection of films and the occasional specials.
I like the Gate, because you can have a night out under one roof, which in this weather is fabulous. You can start with watching a show in the pictures, go on to have a meal in a restaurant and end the night with a few drinks in a club. It is not the cheapest place in Newcastle, but not the most expensive either.
I used to really like the gate, especially the bars, but i think over the past couple of years it has started to go downhill somewhat. Maybe this has got something to do with mood nightclub that is situated inside it, which generally attracts rejects from other bars. Having said that, it does contain a very good little casino that is worth checking out, as well as a couple of very decent restaurants and a cinema upstairs. My advice would be to go there maybe through the day or earlier on in the evening, but move well clear later on.
Very upmarket indoor area, which has a variety of restaurants and pubs. As well as the big cinema upstairs. Its very modern inside and easy to travel too. It even has a nightclub which is pretty good with a good range of music, they have a weird style on the toilets through which are connected to male and female. Pricey in most of the places but you can certainly have a fun night out, they have a weatherspoons place downstairs on the ground floor, if you want a good price.
