I’ve been going to Portobello Road market for years, and have always loved its atmosphere. Anyone that fancies a good bargain, or is a fashion innovator, this is definitely the place for you. You have market stalls with brand new designers showcasing their outfits,jewellery or anything else they’ve made. you have great food, good bars, Music stands, the second hand market & The antiques shop all in one place.

What I like in this market is, most of all, the second hand clothes section. So, if you're coming from Notting Hill Gate, you gonna have to walk all through the market till its end - might be a waste of time. Better get off at Ladbroke Grove. I bought leather gloves for £4, braces for £5 and there is a really great stall there selling sweaters and cashmere with minor damages. I bought a black cashmere with the smallest hole on it for £5! There's also a stall selling those imitations of the ray-ban wayfarer model in many colours for £5.

The Portobello Road Market is one of the best markets in London. You can get everything.... from healthy food to very trendy vintage clothing or things from new designers. Allthough it is quite expensive, you can still make an absolut bargain in case you have enough time to search. There is also a shop where people like Kate Moss or Sienne Miller going to shop. It is located in front of the bridge (left side) and it is only possible to enter when you ring the bell.... in there everything is stuffed with individual and expensive clothes... really nice shop

Even as a local, I can still get excited by a trip to Portobello Market. Bohemian women, gravely traders and bemused tourists fill the road to its tipping point every weekend, and, to a lesser extent, the weekdays too. At the Notting Hill end, you'll find antique shops and stalls selling all sorts of collectibles; in the middle section is a mix of clothes, food and other random stalls; under the Westway Flyover you'll find a great jewellery/vintage cloth area and (this one is always missed by the guidebooks) just further up are a bunch of electrical and car-boot stalls where you can find real bargains. There is tons more to do by ways of music and food, but you'll have to come and find out for yourself.

This market is very famous- especially well known amongst tourists who make sure to have it on their top ten lists of places to visit whilst in London. Understandably so, this place is a haven for bargain lovers and trendy trinket addicts. In search of an original affordable Christmas present, on the lookout for next Saturday night’s outfit or simply wanting to stroll up and down one of the most colourful streets of London for some book/antique furniture/jewellery browsing? This is the place to head to! There are a variety of shops on both sides of this wonderful pedestrian street and market stalls on Saturdays selling the most interesting objects. Walking away from Notting Hill you can reach the opposite end of the market and you will most certainly find something under the bridge- whether it be a vintage fur coat or a hand made lace shirt. Also a great place to go for a bite to eat: it offers a wide variety of English fare, Mediterranean treats or Asian flavours.

Many people have reviewed this great market so I won’t go on too much about it. You can get to it from Notting Hill or Ladbroke Grove stations and the market runs all the way along Portobello Road.

I would recommend that you start at the Ladbroke Grove end or just rush past all the stalls and shops at the Notting Hill Gate end to get to the real people’s market. The beginning is very focused on tourist trade and as such sells a lot of generic fake antiques and souvenir type gifts.

Further down the market and you get to stalls that feature the fruit of the market stall owner’s labours, in many cases, literally fruit. But everything is bartered for at this market and some of the best stalls are the really individual ones which sell things you won’t get anywhere else, like custom made clothes, accessories, jewellery and leather goods.

The market is also a great place to get lunch on a Saturday afternoon as there are a great number of stalls selling hot fresh food from bratwurst to paella at cheap takeaway prices.

Portobello Market is a great place to come on a Saturdat afternoon when the streets fill with a wide variety of stalls. The great thing about this place is that the market is almost split into 'sections': starting from Ladbroke Grove station you walk through young designers selling their clothes, jewellery and accessories, through to vintage clothes, then fruit and veg and food, followed by antiques and art to the top of Portobello Road. Plus the amazing boutiques, shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants that line the streets you can while away several hours here.

This is a good example of a good Saturday market. It is the busiest day of the week. There are shops there on weekdays but the atmosphere is so much better on Saturday. I was there to look for a gift for a friend and I was amazed at the things I was able to find there. Its got everything from bric-a-brac items to food to clothings. Go shopping then stop for lunch at one of the many cafes in the area and then shop again. Its a great way to spend a weekend. It is less busy in the morning so if you are looking for something in particular it might be a better time to do because when afternoon comes, it gets busier as you have to make your way throught the crowds.

Well. Where do I begin? Perhaps at the top?
The Portobello road Market is incredibely varied and has something for everyone. At the Notting Hill Gate end, you'll find an endless assortment of antiques. Everything from paintings, to telescopes, to silver spoons and lace.
Moving on down, you'll find beads, fur coats, military uniforms and Beatles artwork. Jazz records, jewellery and old toy soldiers.
Further along you'll reach the food market, with hot food stands, and vegetable stalls, selling all manner of fruit and vegetables ("Beeeooootiful oranges, 5 for a pound!") The prices of these seem to get cheaper the further down you go.
At the other end are the more eclectic markets, with reggae music blasting, and all manner of souvenirs, hand-made clothes and funky accessories for sale.
It gets busy, but if you are not in a hurry, you could spend an entire day here and not get bored.

Oh the Portobello Road!
Nice market on Saturdays, atmosphere is quite 'West London' with loads of Italian and Spanish tourists jabbering around the streets, impressed mostly with the market and all the amazing goods for sale. Records from the 1980's rare and refined, vintage clothes, shoes, junk and lots of people watching.
I enjoy the market when it's not TOO crowded and I especially like to have some food at Garcia's Spanish Restaurant at the end of Portobello by the trainbridge.

This is one of London's best markets. With Saturday being it's only fully active day, it can get rather busy, but it is definitely worth battling the crowds. The road is packed with hundreds of stalls selling everything from antiques to fresh fruit and veg, flowers and clothing. There are also some great shops along the road that are worth visiting, namely Hummingbird Bakery and American Aparel, just to name a few! At the end of the road, there is a great market which is tops for vintage jewellery and clothing and some great finds are to be had! Make sure you watch your bags and wallets as there is a lot of pickpocketing that goes on there!
