Visited for a school trip when i was younger, was very fun! They showed you some cool stuff, like in the dungeons there was writing scrawled on the walls from people locked away, etc. Cool trip for kids!!

Rated 4 stars only if you’ve got kids of an age where they like scary and gross things. For me, it was a couple of hours of 2-star tedium to please my 10-year-old nephew, but did it ever please him.

Lots of dark scary tunnels, cobwebs, gruesome (but tongue-in-cheek) acts being played out, sudden noises, fog, boat rides, plague, the “hanging simulator”, and lots of topical London scares like Jack the Ripper and Sweeny Todd (I actually liked that experience the best).

There are discounts available from different sources: through Oyster cards, through the double-decker bus tours, etc. The latter can be a good deal because tickets from them get you in the queue reserved for tours, not the usually-longer queue for individuals.

What more can be said? It’s a great fun day out as a tourist in London and perfect if you’ve got some visitors and want to show them a little bit of the folk tale history of London without the drab museum aura. They’ll hear of ancient torture devices, old English courts, diseases, the famous Jack the Ripper and S Todd and the rest. Yes it’s fake, yes it’s expensive but I think it’s worth it. Best advice is to look out for 2for1 prices on Oyster card deals or reduced tickets through lastminute.com
Doesn’t need to cost you an arm and a leg - well the price anyway. Muhahaha. Go and have a laugh. Or a scream.

I have been here quite a few times both as a kid and as an adult and have always thought it a great day out. HOWEVER, the ques in the summer are HORRENDOUS so do try and pre book a ticket online at their website!
The dungeons have not changed much since i first went as a youngster and to be honest thats okay because they dont need too.
Not only do they have madame tussards wax work figures but they have real life actors in full costume here and there - guiding you OR scaring you!
You have a picture taken with your head in the stocks (you dont have to purchase it lol) then you are guided through the territory of jack the ripper, sweeney todd, general filthy villages and prisons… and even a little boat road down a doomy gloomy london.
from what i have heard, the boat ride is quite often broken - as it once was when i went - they should reduce your ticket price if this is the case and maybe check the website before you go? they might say on there, though maybe not. Even without it though its still great. The whole tour takes about an hour and a half and i always really enjoy it. Bring a bottle of water especially if you have kids as it can (even with air con) get a bit hot when its crowded!

It’s somewhere you have to go at least once but to be honest I found the World War 2 museum down the road better.

After catching the tube to London Bridge Station, I soon stood face to face with my terrifying fate - The London Dungeon. Having a very vague memory of a previous visit to the London Dungeon seven years ago, I reassured myself that I would be fine entering the Dungeon despite its reputation for scaring customers. Walking through the main entrance door, I soon found myself in an 18th Century graveyard where I joined a growing queue of nervous patrons.

After having my head cut off in a humorous entry photo, I passed my ticket through to the “ghoul” on the other side of the medieval bars at the ticket booth. The “ghoul” offered me a London Dungeon Guide, which I accepted for £3.99. Handing me my change, the “ghoul” wished me a "horrible time."
I joined yet another queue and waited for my group’s turn to enter the attraction. Ten minutes passed and my anxiety levels were rising. The wax figure hanging by its toes to my right, stomach and intestines hanging freely from its body, did nothing to relax my nerves!

Without warning, a humped back figure, I can only assume that it was a Dungeon staff member, appeared and gestured to the next room. Chowing down a bag of sweets that I had found in the bottom of my bag, I was unaware of the deformed figure resting his head on my shoulder. Turning to look absorb the atmosphere of the Dungeon, I let out a high-pitched screamed as my face met his. I grabbed onto the lady next to me, despite her being a total stranger, as the rest of the patrons laughed at my expense.

The figure led us into a dimly lit mirror maze and informed us that if we wanted to live, we had to find our way out of the maze. Surviving the mirror maze which seemed to last forever, most of us thought our troubles would be over. How very wrong we were! Upon exit of the maze, a man covered in boils informed us that we had all contracted the Plague of 1665. Unveiling a wax corpse on a table in front of him, he proceeded to perform an autopsy on the body. After removing the body's intestines, the man covered in boils gave the group a dowsing in water, pretending that the liquid had come from the body's bladder!

Whipping ourselves down, we made our way as a group into the next room - the Torture Chamber. The Torture Chamber attendant, if you will, demonstrated for us how he used his implements and which his favorites were. He showed us one item in particular that could only be used on males, if you catch my drift. He didn't demonstrate them but he did let all the ladies know that they were available for sale in the London Dungeon gift shop!

In the next couple of rooms we were cut open by demon barber Sweeney Todd, chased by Jack the Ripper (an exhibit during which I was referred to as a prostitute by the exhibit attendant!) and had to escape the great fire of London!

The London Dungeon is open seven days and week with ticket prices starting from £10. Do not be discoraged by the ticket prices as you receive a 50% discount when booking online. I strongly recommend this as online tickets also allow you to “queue jump.”

Have a horrible time!

I lined up for nearly 2 hours with unhappy, hungry children and finally I got to the front.

At first the was figures and red lights were novel but after rooms and rooms of it - I got pretty bored. The actors and actresses who were part of the tour were actually very good. But the exhibit and the fact that there were so many of us pushing distracted me from their performance.

Not to mention someone fainted half way through the tour - I didn't really blame her though.

And the thing I was most looking forward to was the rides I had heard so much about - one of them was broken!!!

The last ride - the hanging was pretty good - but all and all a disappointing experience at the london dungeons.

I suppose if you're under the age of 10 it would be a wonderful experience - so buy a ticket if you're a patient parent taking your child.

I was a bit disappointed going to London's dungeons after experiencing such an amazing one in Edinburgh. The queues to get in were ridiculous taking about 2 hours, then we were told that the boat ride wasn't working. They did reduce the ticket price a little because of this though. However bad this seems so far I did love the actors, especially the woman with the cart full of the dead, who was hilarious and made me wanna join the team. If you haven't done this, it's worth doing once but I wouldn't go again unless it was somewhere different.

The london dungeon is a nice day out for the family or with friends. It is a bit pricey for what you get- priced at £15 but its always good to see new things. The dungeon basically goes through the gory past of London and uses wax people and real people to illustrate it. It is not scary for adults at all I actually found it funny, but for kids I would not recommend it for young children. It can be quite scary for kids I imagine. Probably 7/8 year olds and above would be best.

This was one of the most disappointing tourist attractions I have been to. Although I think it would be wonderful for children, its important to go at a quiet time as the queues slow things up inside. The dungeons are well done and the actors who present the various sections act excellently, there is just nothing scary about it.
Although I think its something to try, take kids with to see it out of their eyes and appreciate what it could be!

This place is a fun tour of a scaaary dungeon full of wax environments, actors in costume and interesting historic facts.

If you're over say.. 12 years old, it's not really scary. But it's fun. It's most fun if you go with someone else, and be sure to bring a bottle of water with you because I went on a summer day & there were no bathroom breaks or good air conditioning so everyone had to use their pamphlets as make-shift fans. There are two "rides" in the tour (one of which is optional), but their very "soft-core" rides. at the end is a gift shop. :)

I've been to a few of these but this one has to be the best, theres more to see and the rides are cool. The guides are more interactive and the exhibits are well set out and very spooky( although some of it does look tacky)
The atmosphere is really eerie which all makes for a great experience.
Only problem was I had to queue for ages so the best thing to do is pre-book but it was worth it in the end

This place gives me the creeps. It is eerie and creepy but it is a great place to visit. It tells the history of dark London eg Jack the Ripper, The great fire of London and many others. The tour takes about 90 minutes but it passes pretty quickly because you don't pay attention to the time. The actors are brilliant and its scary inside. There is also a big souvenir shop at the end of the tour. You can get all kinds of wonderful things in there. Go early or pre book your tickets to avoid the queue.

This isn't exactly a well hidden secret, but the London Dungeons is worth a visit if you think that it isn't. why? becasue. 1. Its scary - even for adults, 2. Its silly, and fun! When you first walk in the play acting begins, and the entire tour is full of scares. The room of mirrors I found particualrly freaky, and even started to pnic a little bit until they let us out. There are lots of comedy moments thanks to very funny actors. Occasionally some of the acts got a bit tired when they were trying to explain history in a fun way it didn't always quite pull off but on the whole this is definitely worth a visit. Always buy the fast track ticket though as it isn't much more expensive the queues otherwise are ridiculous. Enjoy!

The London Dungeon was easily the perfect choice for our Halloween night. The rides are hilarious,constantly making you jump and there are characters everywhere. The part wher you get shown the story of Jack the Ripper is not only really interesting but for horror film lovers it has its perks too. Everyone should go at some point or another but halloween really is ideal.

The London Dungeon is a fantastic place... I have been to various other dungeons (Edinburgh & Amsterdam) and this one is definatly the best! Without a doubt. It takes you through Londons "dark" history eg. Jack the Ripper. They throw in some scary rides as well. I went as a brave youngster and was scared at times. It could well scare some adults. A good experience that takes just over an hour to complete.

Well, the London Dungeon has changed so much since I last went! You walk in and are put straight into the stocks to have a photo taken (how kitsch, I love it) and then you go into the dungeons. Now, when I was younger you just wandered around but now the whole experience is a guided tour through history- the plague, Jack the Ripper, Sweeny Todd, and now they have a boat ride and drop-ride at the end (not for the faint hearted).

Okay, I'm not going to lie- I screamed throughout the whole thing, but that's the whole part of the dungeon right? Not recommended for children- seriously if I'd seen this as a small child it would have scarred me for life.

i went! it was fun, im pretty much a hyperactive teenager so i found certain bits boring, and certain things toooo fake. but it was a really fun experience and i did actually learn alot! the bit that got me worst was that revolving tunnel with the light. it was really quite full on

brilliant experience! This place is not only packed with history but is fun and definately a place i would recommend. There are things for all and the actors make the experience worthwhile. The acts i particulary enjoyed are the mirrors + the two fun rides ( boat ride and the hanging) brilliant! I would say the downsides are it can get really busy during the holiday seasons and u will end up waiting forever to get in and the experience does end too shortly! but i think its well worth the money, for anyone studying history or just for fun!
