This is a great place to for a London day out. You’ll have so much fun and at the same time you’ll learn something. You don’t really get scared but the kids have a get a couple of shocks. The only down side is the price, it’s a little pricey but besides that it’s a laugh. A top attraction!

You can finally be a part of a show!!

Before I went there, I though that it would be some kind of scary house like in the theme park. But the truth is, it is NOT!!

They show you the mystery and history in London in a lively way which you will become part of it.

you will walk with different guide in the whole journey and they will tell you the story and let you experience it yourself.

Be prepared to start your excited journey with other tourist!!

I loved this attraction alot more than i originally thought i would! The staff/actors were brilliant - making it scary, but also cracking jokes at the same time.
I though i might get a bit bored after a while, but they keep you entertained at all times and the time flies by very quickly - i was quite disappointed when it came to the end!!
The ride at the end was brilliant and although i was expecting it, it still frightened the life out of me!
TIP: Do not try to avoid eye contact with the actors when they ask for volunteers - they are more liekly to pick you!!
Good history lesson without being boring!

i enoyed the dungeons but wasnt as scared as i had hoped i might be, maybe it is geared more towareds teenagers im not sure but i wa dissapointed slighly, especially as it is very expensive as most people often combine this activity with the wax works. again its one of those exoeriences its nice to say you have done but an expensive slightly unfulfilling one.

I didn’t think I would like this place! As an adult it’s a bit embarrasing to be such a scardy cat! But I had the best time! I took some friends from abroad and we had fun. Though a lot of the gags are mainly for the younger audience it is fun for adults too. If you are visiting London its worth it if you dont mind the queueing time. It is expensive but always has offers available. Try the tTFL website before which sometimes offers some good value discounts if you are travelling with an oyster card. Days out Guide will usually have some good offers too.

I have to say, i absolutely loved this place when i went for the first time last december!! You could tell that a lot of time and effort went into creating this place. The actors were excellent and played their roles really well. The stories they told were clear and informative… I could see why this place would be great for kids and school trips!! I was hanging on to my partner the entire way round with fear of being scared. It is def. worth a visit from anyone who’s not been before!!! The rides are excellent and the tour length itself seemed ideal, not too rushed, not too short.

I would say, hunt around for cheap tickets… never pay full price! lastminute.com is quite a good place to get advanced tickets from

This was the best day out ever! My parents took me for my 23rd birthday (!) and we all loved it! I was actually screaming in the Sweeney Todd - Demon Barber of Fleet Street bit. The chair being yanked back - terrifying! They have done a great job with all these bits of English history - I’m going to take my younger cousins soon…. but only so that I can go back myself!

I loved the London Dungeon and had a brilliant time despite being an adult and going with friends and no children. The fun begins when you go in and they take a photo of you in the stalls, whilst a friend holds an axe and looks like they’re about to chop off your head (you can buy this photo later for an extortionate fee.) The rides are good fun even for adults but the Sweeney Todd bit in the barber’s chairs was a bit naff to be honest. The queues can be ridiculous in the summer but that’s true of any London tourist attraction. Recommended for all!

I guess a great attraction for children 6 - 14 or so. Adults will prob find it a glorified ghost train. (this is not an actual historical place where things really happened just mocked up scenes)The dungeons are really dark, i know they are meant to be but they were so dark you cant make out what you are looking at most of the time. Actually quite difficult to walk in a couple places. The actors were really good especially the judge! All a bit disjointed at the start you just wander from one queue to the next but ok later on when the actors start guiding and abusing you! quite expensive £40 odd for 3 and we had a 2 for 1 ticket. The bit at the end where you get hanged is good, will scare EVERYONE on their first time.

Wouldnt go again and not worth queueing for more than half hour for unless you have kids to entertain.

Over all was ok but never felt real. Seem to remember york had a place similar but much more shocking for being more realistic rather than fairground like this.

Overpriced and mildly embarassing, the London Dungeons is a bit…meh. If you’re smart enough to get a half price ticket somewhere else in London then its not too bad, but walking around with some actress pretending to be an undead creepy person is slightly embarassing unless you’re an American tourist in which case you’ll LOVE it!!

Trying to hide from the pointing fingers of the actors wanting to make you their next victim doesn’t work, so don’t try just learn to say “i don’t speak english” in some random language to confuse them. Hopefully it’ll get them off your back so you can get to the actual facts and cool stuff.

I’ve lived in London for years and had never actually been to the London Dungeons, however I had a friend visiting from abroad so decided to make the trip. It’s definitely a funny day out, some of the jokes seemed a bit shop worn, but amusing all the same. It can be slightly pricey if you pay full price. But there are lots of two for one offers for this about. For example, if you use daysoutguide.co.uk you can get 2for1 tickets; all you need is a valid train ticket for that day. Even if you’re not going by train, just buy a £2 ticket for one stop and the offer will still be valid.

The London Dungeon is operated by the Tussauds Group and located on Tooley Street a short walk from London Bridge Tube. It is a fun if slightly cheesy day out whereby actors play Victorian London peasants and prostitutes who guide you round the underbelly of Victorian London. There are also a few rides which are pretty good fun. Recommended for visitors to London who want to learn a bit more about the dark history of this city.

Super scary place I kept squealing with fear and my hubby thought it was hilarious especially as he was pushing me in a chair right up close to the grisely gorey stuff lol. The people walking round dressed up with severed heads and axes also scared the poop out of me. We really enjoy this place and have now been 4 times, the price has shot up over the years but it’s still a great day out. about 90% disabled access and good clean accessible loos, parking is a nightmare again though, best to park in Tooley street if you have a blue badge and walk or wheel back up.

Excellent! Would recommend for young teens perhaps not very young children. Gets very busy so pre booking definately needed to avoid queues. Not for those of a nervous disposition! Actors make it come alive! Good ride included. Souvenir shop and small cafe.

I was in London at the weekend with my family and we decided on the Sunday before we went home we would give a visit to the London dungeons. There was mishaps to begin with but then it turned into a very enjoyable hour and a half. This review will tell you why I recommend that you visit but also recommend that you pre-book or get there very early indeed.

The dungeons are easy to find as you get off the London underground at London Bridge station and then they are a 5 minute walk away. Now we decided to get to the dungeons early so arrived at about 10. When we saw the queue of people we knew this was not early enough. The only bad thing about the dungeons is that they handle queues terribly. People were fed up and they stopped letting people in for half hour and then the staff kept disappearing leaving everybody angry. We were in the queue for 2 hours in the end and nobody could give us an indication of waiting times at any point which I thought was bad.

When in the dungeons there is a quick photo opportunity which you are forced to take part in which is funny. Then you pay. The price is £20.95 per adult and the children’s price looked to be around the £15 mark. We paid using Tesco clubcard vouchers which is fantastic so got in for a lot cheaper. If you pre booked tickets I should add that the queue would have been around the half hour mark.

The second you get in the dungeons you have characters around trying to scare you and basically having a laugh. They constantly tell you to have a horrible day which is funny but they are all dressed up well. The decoration around the place is great too so there is a lot to keep you amused.

The main bit of the dungeons though is when you join the tour. This does go on for a good 1.5 hours which is brilliant. You go through from room to room and are taken through horrors and stories and questions and basically a lot of fun. There is a Sweeney Todd section, Jack the Ripper and then a Plague section to name a few. Then you have rooms you simply have to walk through like mirror rooms and dark rooms which are terrifying.

Another part of the dungeons are the rides which are good. There is a boat ride and then a drop ride and both are entertaining.

I cant really tell you much more about the tour as I don’t want to ruin it for those who are going to go but it is very entertaining but also factual at times. It is scary though so I would be wary of taking children unless you know they can handle it. I also thought it was good that they warn you of rides and strobe lights so you can skip these areas and the staff are helpful in doing so.

When you finish the tour you are sent to the gift shop where you can buy lots of goodies to remind you of your horrible day! They have magnets, mugs, clothes and basically all sorts. What I will say though is go to he toilet or eat and drink before the tour as once you are on there you cant get off that easily to have a sit down or a rest.

All in all though the dungeons are a fantastic place to visit if you are in London. The staff there have obviously been doing it for a long time as they are great at entertaining you. I would recommend going but just pre book or get there early and it will make your day so much better. Just some advice though Tescos vouchers do not give you any priority access so although it is great you will still have to queue.

Go if you dare!

Thanks for reading.

The London Dungeon has lots of exhibits that depict the nastier side of London life in the years ago.
It also has the spirit of London ride.
More suitable for Teenagers and older children.
Can be longer queues in peak times especially kids holidays.

I think that you say the London Dungeons is aimed more towards the younger audience - or kids at heart anyway!
Although the children enjoyed the whole thing (that was th main aim of the day i guess), there were parts of it that i would say were cringe worthy at best. Dont get me wrong, i’m not knocking it totally as others in the group enjoyed it greatly - just dont think it was 100% for me.
People have knocked the actors / guides in other comments, and although i would agree they can be a bit cheesy - i guess they are doing what has been asked of them, entertain and help people remember the experience.
I know it may be common sense, but definately try and avoid times when the schools are off otherwise you may find it a little too busy to enjoy.
Also, make sure you check the internet / press first as there are often two for one and other discounts to be found which always help out.

Went along to the London Dungeon as part of a London weekend with the family, everyone chose something todo and we all had to respect the others choices. Was not looking forward to it. We had fast track tickets (worth checking out loads of deals on the internet and tesco vouchers etc), but we went sunday morning and were practically first in. Determined not to enjoy myself, i was pleasantly surprised.
The initial wall of mirrors messes with your head(you just can’t get out) and gets you right into the spirit of things, unable to get out we were whisked away by a gruesome looking man who guided us into the first room of gore. Room by room people were humiliated, frightened and mocked - it was great! The finaly was a head in the gallows drop, where we were sat in seats raised then quickly dropped about two feet(!) - what a buzz.
I was pleasantly surprised by the London Dungeons - thoroughly enjoyed my morning. The kids absolutely loved it.

Above contains a london dungeoun video edited by me - We filmed there (all rights granted) and it was a fun trip! i think for children it was really really scary - especially the sweeney todd scene where its pitch black and all you have is the sound of people being cut and screams etc… not a nice time!
Some of the acting by the staff is laughable, but i guess thats why there at the dungeon in the first place.

I can’t say I really enjoyed my visit to the London Dungeon. Some parts were scary and fun, however I found it over-priced (and that was even after paying with half price voucher!) and definitely over-crowded. I suffer with claustrophobia and after being ushered into the hall of mirrors with god knows how many other people I ended up suffering a panic attack. I felt there should have been some sort of warning in case you wanted to avoid the maze, or a simple way around it. The history part was good to learn and I suppose it’s worth at least one visit, but personally I wouldn’t go again.

Being a Londoner, “The London Dungeon” is not something that I would have thought of going to before as I previously thought it was just for tourists and children. My lovely husband surprised me on our anniversary and we went on Halloween. The queue was very long (possibly as it was halloween) and we had to wait for 2 hours even with fast track tickets, however i soon forgot about this wait once we were inside. Despite being frozen stiff when i got in, i joined in with the groups tour.

At first I found it very funny, as someone who enjoys history I thought it was a great way for kids to learn.
As we went further, I started to get a little scared…. My husband was 'banished’ for being sarcastic (by one of the characters, not by me!) and i lost him in the maze of mirrors, but found him in time to meet the 'olde english’ doctor. I found myself clinging on to my husbands hand so tightly as it was genuinely scary.
I like the fact that you were moved from room to room, it was very disorienting and in the dark it made it scarier. I also liked the little rides they had. Like the boat ride.

I thought the actors were hilarious, some of the jokes were very adult, but said in a way that the children didn’t understand (nothing too rude!) so it was fun for all ages.

I thoguht the tour was a good length, it wasn’t too short or long and I know they update it often, when I went the new exhibition was the “Jack the Ripper” one.

The finale was a 'hanging’ which left my heart racing. I thought the whole thing was very well thought out and had all ages in mind.

I bought all of the photo’s that were taken as they were so funny, it was a really fun day out and I would recommend it to everyone.

Well worth visiting. The actors can seem a little twee, but for the younger audience I am sure they provide a lot of entertainment, and it all adds to the fun of the day out. There can be significant queues on a busy day - be warned! Buy your tickets in advance if possible to ease this situation. It is incredible to see the array of torture devices - these are not sights that you would get to behold on an average day of the week! The Jack the Ripper exhibition is really good - it brings to life the story in Whitechapel. I would visit this place again which says a lot about what is on offer here.

This was a fun place to visit, to be honest it was quite scary but i guess we all learnt something from the visit. I particulary enjoyed the fact that all the staff dressed up in fancy dress costumes, made everyone get into the spirit of the day!

Can honestly say I’ve never to be to anything quite like the London Dungeon! Went there for a laugh with a friend visiting the city & had a great time - despite initially thinking it would be a waste of money & total cheese fest. The place was not only informative - but was also fairly creepy with the actors lurching out at you etc - must admit I did emit afew girly screeches whilst there! And the mini rail ride inside - tell you what If I was a kid this would be briliiant & petrifying all at once! I ended up having a really fun time there & think it’s well worth the ticket price…....and I honestly think a lot of children will find it fairly scary - so parents beware - ha!

It is a great day out. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. One thing I can say though, is try and get there early as queues tend to grow quickly later on in the day. The place is not only packed with lots of history, but the acts are brilliant. The only issue I had with this, is that it ended so soon! It is well worth the money for a day out.

I went here once with my best friend. The ques get extremely long so get there early if you can.I found The London Dungeon very fun and crazy.I would not recommend this attraction for younger children as it might give them nightmares. If you look around you could get a discount on your ticket price. The rides are the best especially the boat ride. The thing i hate are the very long ques and you get a lot of tourists. You learn some history while having fun , i think the tickets prices should be cheaper , as it quite expensive. So if you want to learn some history and enjoy it make a trip to The London Dungeon.

When we went the main rides were broken - which we didn’t know until after we’d paid - of course!
Well overpriced, way too crowded & we didn’t find at all scary. I suppose young children might have found it scary but I suspect we’ve seen too many good scary films to have any fright factor.
The queues are rediculous, as are the amount of people they pack in & you just feel pushed from one part to another.
Some of the actors are quite good & I suppose for some it’s a bit of a history lesson - if they don’t already know the story of the great fire of London, the plague & Jack the Ripper.
There are FAR better free attractions in London - this is WELL overpriced, way too crowded, manufactured tat for tourists.

this is a great place to visit with the kids as its a fun day out and they can learn something too (without it being really obvious like a regular museum hehe). there is lots of 'hands on’ activities and its great fun for adults too! i also love the ride :D
while in london why not go for a browse around the shops on oxford street or relax in a cafe in covent garden? take a tour around buckingham palace and visit the queen!

I have only been once when I was at school but it was amazing. I remember being scared the night before, but once in side it was like being at home….
Only joking, although it was a dungeon, it is family orientated and suitable for people of all ages… They have a very interesting and educational tour, there is a boat ride and the hanging, which are unforgettable.
In the summer at peak times I would imagine that it gets rather busy, but if you are in London, I say what the heck, give it a spin!
