Endroit très sympathique, peu cher (trois livres la pinte !). Parfois un peu bruyant lorsque la salle du bas est réservée, mais c'est pub local à ne pas rater.
I used to live in this area between 1996 and 1999 and of course, everything has now completely changed - including this pub.
I opted for the breaded Veal escalope, and then laughed as it arrived as what I am now very used to being a Wiener Schnitzel - something I eat at least once a week now I live in Germany!
So, a very good place to meet business or pleasure. Recommended.

Well, well, well. What to write about The Well. I really wanted to like this place, as I had heard a lot of good things about The Well. And I did like the place, but I guess it was a classic case where the hype had elevated my expectations to a level that they didn't deliver upon. There is nothing that you can pick out as being bad, it's just that it didn't really blow me away. Service was friendly, the food was decent, the atmosphere was nice. It just didn't have that deal clinching feel that would have given it a 4* rating. I'm sorry The Well. Hopefully next time you'll knock my socks off.

Took my girlfriend here for Valentines Day and had a great time. Food was delicious and unfussy, wine menu comprehensive and service very attentive.
Looking forward to going back.

Decent, but slightly pricey gastropub in Islington. The rib eye steak with bearnaise sauce was spot on (bloody well should be for £22!) and the veggies (particularly the summer veg) were great. Service brought the star rating down - very slow.

Summer Nights at The Well:
The Well - The Well - The Well - a-huh,Tell me more, tell me more, what's it like as a bar?
Pretty impressive. Vibrant in the evenings, downstairs is fun for an intimate one-on-one and also a good venue to hire for a private party. There is a good selection of wines, or freshly-made juices if you've sworn off.
Tell me more, tell me more, does £20 go very far?
If you're dining, then the quality of the cuisine is excellent and there's regular variety of specials; for most of the dishes you need to pay regular restaurant prices (generally from £12-15 for a main course), so if you don't dig relaxed, informal and sometimes lively dining, then it may not be for you.

This is my local and I’m glad that it is. Rolling out of bed for brunch here makes me happy. Apparently, brunch at The Well makes all sorts of other folks happy too; thus, I’ve learned to call ahead. Their top notch Bloody Mary is part of the reason (for me anyway). A good assortment of starters and mains cinches the deal. The Well is a nice clean, attractive pub that’s suitable for the whole family and all my friends. There’s a good selection of beer, wine and booze. Come summer, their Pimms and Lemonade is a winner too. And speaking of summer … this past year, The Well threw a massive party for regulars with free drinks and plenty of free food. Since then, I’ve tended to visit them more than the other nearby pubs and have no intensions of stopping. See you there!
