Review of Carmelli Bakeries from 8 December 2011

This really has to be one of the best bakeries in London – kosher or otherwise.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I find the pricing is high, i.e. £2.30 for a single almond croissant.

Review of Carmelli Bakeries from 28 September 2009

I stopped by this bakery one day as I heard many good things said about their bagels. I ordered a plain one with cream cheese, a sesame seed bagel, and a slice of cheesecake.

The plain bagel was SO delicious, very much like Brick Lane Beigel Bake in east London, chewy and dense, like it's supposed to be. The sesame seed one, on the other hand, was a disappointment. It was rock-hard -- difficult to slice and even more difficult to bite into. The cheesecake was light, but ultimately bland and not worth the calories.

Would I come back? For the plain bagel, yes!

Review of Carmelli Bakeries from 30 November 2008

Carmelli is open late on Saturday night. The local orthodox Jewish kids flock here after the sabbath is over and hang out on the street outside, and buying baked goods. What, I ask, is wrong with going to the pub? The bakery? Not especially wonderful.

Review of Carmelli Bakeries from 24 January 2008

This is one of the most famous jewish bakeries in London. A family-run place, they sell all the baked goods you could ever want - great for breakfast, lunch, or late night snacks! A bagel with cream cheese is a classic, but there are lots of other choices of spreads. The little chocolate danish are great as well. Join the dozens of teenagers who hang out on the street outside Carmelli's every saturday night and see what all the fuss is about...

This is one of those bakeries it's really hard to pass by without buying something, it all looks so tasty. The pastries are my favourite, but they do cover a lot of them with what appears to be marmalade. You can pre-order cakes here for special occasions and like the rest of Golders Green have the best bread around. Go try something.

Well worth a visit if you're in North West London - Carmelli's is reknowned for their pastry treats and to-die-for bagels. Pop in at lunchtime and try their pre-filled bagels for lunch, they're divine and a fortnightly must for me!
Service is changeable, from angry to helpful, but you can guarantee that whatever you buy here you'll enjoy and recommend!!!
