Old Orleans

Have been here many times and love the food and the atmosphere. I recently went on a thursday and they had a magician going round the tables, i must say this was fantastic every member of our group enjoyed this added entertainment. Will be going back again especially on a thursday or friday when the magic man is on :-)

Dropped in on my own during a business trip…based on the local Qype reviews ;-)

This is a part of a chain so the food is consistant but not exacly amazing. The menu looks great (especially if you like southern US food) but the actual results don’t quite manage to live up to the expectations.

Food is made quickly but the overall service can be a bit slow as there are few servers on duty during the week and they are run off their feet.

Groups and parties with kids can make the place a bit noisy at times but I enjoyed my meal

I have had 2 meals here recently - the first time I went with friends and we all had fajitas, which were on 2 4 1, so were great value for money. The waitress was lovely and only downside was long wait for main course, which was a shame as starters came out really quickly and the restaurant was pretty quiet.
I then visited with my family and had another long wait for main courses, even though the restaurant was quiet. The kids meals were fine, but the adults meals were both cold. I mentioned it to the waitress, who had new meals cooked, so by the time my meal came, the kids had finished. They had ice cream as part of the meal deal, but this was melting. The childrens food is free when adults eat, and they did knock 10% of the bill, but I think it will be a while before I go back.

I have been to Old Orleans many times now and each time I have been really happy with the service and the quality of food.

The food they offer is very Americanised and they aren’t stingey on their portions either! Everytime I go I get the ribs and they are massive! I need to try some other things really but the ribs are too addicitve!

At the end you have crayons and can draw on the table cloth! It is brilliant. Great fun and good place to eat!

Old Orleans is located on Pride Park in Derby, which is positioned on the outskirts of the town centre, near the trainstation. Old Orleans recently went through a restyle and as such, the image has improved. It specialises in ‘deep south’ american food, which (as you can imagine) involves gigantic portions, so value for money is standard, The staff are always helpful and the atmosphere very much lives up to the brand name!

The menu, sadly, is slightly dissapointing. The options tend to all be high fat options, so if you are on a diet or watching what you eat- stay away! The prices are big, but then again, you do get your monies worth as I mentioned previously. Recommended if you want a themed restuarant that is different to Franky and Bennys.

Well i alway say you pay for quality and it show here i love the food and the atmosphere in great i love the place to much wish i could eat there every day

I wasn’t impressed as my dish was bland. I had the Southern Fried Chicken with Creamy Coleslaw and a Jacket Potatoe. I have had tastier chicken in KFC, the Coleslaw was more like a cheap low fat variety and I think my Jacket Potato had been cooking all day. The ice cream was melted as the freezer was on the blink. My husband and kids were satisfied with their meals and the kids ate for free which earned the retaurant an extra star!

Well what can I say! I am american and this place is like home away from home! This place brings back memories of saturday or friday nights at the local steak house in the deep south… they really have captured the theme well and terrific food! I love it!

This themed restaurant is a little out of town on Pride Park so it is a place that you would drive to. the parking is good and quite safe.
The menu is themed around southern american and creole food and has some great individual dishes, such a swamp and turf with aligator steak!! The drinks menu is great and the cocktails are well made, if a little pricey.
The atmosphere is great and the restaurant is well deorated. Staff are generally good but we have waited a while at the busy times.
Great for large parties and noisy groups!!
