T HOTEL

Monsieur and I recently stayed at the T Hotel in Cagliari for the first and last nights of a Sardinian holiday. The website for T Hotel hadn’t really appealed to me - it looked a bit like a trendy nightclub where you could get a room if you got lucky with that cutie on the dancefloor dancing techno with sunglasses still on at 2am. Monsieur assured me that the reviews made it worth the risk and I’m so pleased because now I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else in Cagliari (budget permitting, of course). We stayed in a tower room with views up to the bastione and Cathedral, also looking over a very tidy building site where a piazza is being created replete with ready-grown palm trees and water features, outside one of Cagliari’s most important theatres. Parking and breakfast were included in the rate and the breakfast has to be one of the most comprehensive buffets I’ve seen at any hotel for some time. I even sneaked a naughty chocolate filled pastry from the sweet cakes table and it has to go down as one of the most worthwhile calorie gains of my entire life! T Bar is relaxing, with a pleasant outdoor terrace where armchairs and sofas are made out of resin (they’re actually very comfortable) and gently trickling water soothes stresses into oblivion. T Restaurant served us a fine dinner. The sea bass was a bit dry but I can highly recommend the fregula (local pasta like giant couscous) with seafood sauce. Deeelish. The staff were efficient and courteous, check out took about 3 minutes only, the rooms were quiet with fantastic bathrooms and beds that would have helped Sleeping Beauty doze for another decade or five. Check out online rates for your best travel deals. The football team L’Inter were staying at T Hotel before their Cagliari game while we were there. If it’s good enough for them, then it’s good enough for the Qype-set.
