A pint in central London for under £2?! You must be having a laugh! Not so, for The Champ is a glorious oasis for all us credit-crunch conscious consumers.

It does get super busy 5-9pm but clears out after that as the trendy people head off elsewhere. Stick around til closing and you might even get a go on the darts board…

This bar is always packed and you do need to arrive early on a Friday to get a seat - around lunch!

The food, while standard, is good and the beer is ‘friendly’.

With a quiet upstairs space, this pub is an excellent place for an informal meeting, chat or casual lunch.

The Champ is a nice little pub just off of Oxford street. It's a great place to hit on a Friday night after work. Beer is cheap - less than 2 quid per pint, but it is Samuel Smiths (tastes like bleach for the first pint and then you don't seem to notice after that). I'd recommend getting on to the local wheat beer or sticking with Ayingerbrau (also known as "man in a box", "alpine lager" or "the cheap stuff").

Darts here is free and you are always guaranteed a youthful and surprisingly good looking crowd (lots of nice looking twentysomething media/fashion types).

Check it out if you are in town looking for a cheap place to start the night.
