I love Roundhay Park, I do. It’s lovely. It’s also home to the Leeds Mela, held at the start of summer each year, and hosts one of Europe’s largest fireworks displays each bonfire night.

The park is so large it’s easy to spend a whole day there. The Mansion on the edge of the park serves a well tasty Sunday Roast too : )

Aparently the biggest area of greenery in Europe that is not nationalised, a haven from the growing city life in Leeds. Could do with the mansion re-opening as a boozer again [not likely], but other than that great for walking, camping, trekking, swimming [if you dare] and even a nice boat ride if you fancy. I love Roundhay park!

Roundhay Park offers a good half day walk around the lake(s) for small children, with good access for pushchairs. There is the usual municipal stuff about ‘even shallow water can drown you…’ and a good cafe in the middle. On our one and only visit Jimmy Savile was out for a stroll… thankfully, Louis Theroux was not there teasing him with a film crew.. so we got a jolly ‘good afternoon’ and something to tell the folks back home.
