really nice cosy, chilled out bar down in stockbridge. though it’s not my neck of the woods, i have no qualms with going a little out of my way for a nice afternoon of food and beer here. the food is great, the staff are usually pretty smiley, and hey, there’s board games too! you can easily wile away a good few hours here. i like it. i like it a lot.

Hectors is a great place but can be extremely busy. Recommend the fruli rasberry beers, but they are so sweet more than one is a challenge. Be warned, they do allow dogs in.

Hectors is a lovely wee bar, with plenty of seating, funky decor and a good drinks menu. It’s a favourite of mine for Sunday lunch (although it seems to be a favourite of half of Edinburgh so get there early to make sure you get a seat). The brunch menu is yummy (I recommend the eggs benedict) but they also do a great roast dinner on a Sunday. Ideal for a chilled out, hungover Sunday lunch readin the papers. At night Hector’s can be packed but has a good atmosphere and good tunes. Parents be warned though - last time we went for Sunday lunch we took my baby nephew, only to discover they don’t allow kids. It’s fair enough given how busy it can get but they don’t advertise it anywhere.

I think I must be getting old. The last time I was in Hector’s it was too crowded, too loud, impossible to get served and the loos too squalid. And I really dislike having walk through a wall of smoke (and smokers) to get in the door.
Given that this was once a favourite haunt and that I have yet to find a replacement, eating and drinking out is either not what it used to be or I am turning into my father. Just call me Victoria Meldrew…

I’ve given the place 3 stars because the wines, beers and food have always been reliably good and it is hardly Hector’s fault that I’ve gotten cranky. Sort out the service & the loos and I could probably be dragged back in.

It’s got a grat range of beers on tap, including some unlikely raspberry brews. The chips are chunky and the tapas is well cooked although a bit stingy. This is more than compensated for by the great atmosphere and the chance to hear one of the regulars firing up the piano.

Bursting with a sophisticated ambiance, Hectors is a hotspot for the yummy mummys of the affluent Stockbridge area. Top notch nosh in a reassuringly dimly lit dining area with easy access to shimmy through to the bar where yet more fairy lights and candles await. Vast array of lagers and beers to quench your thirst not to mention the cocktails to kickstart your weekend. Watch out for those suits…you have been warned!

The perfect Sunday afternoon hideout. Except that a few others may have the same idea. Grab you newspapers and head in for a coffee (a hot chocoalte with whipped cream is a divine choice), or if you have a really rough hangover, one of the selection of delicious beers. Hectors serves food, which I've personally never eaten (having not quite been at food managing stage) but have admired from afar. One of the things that I love most about Hectors is it's decor- low lighting, the occasional bottled candle, couches and a warm atmosphere traditional of an old mans pub combined with a modern touch and a funky bar clad with funky bar staff- well worth a Sunday slouch!

Located at the top of charming Raeburn Street, Hector’s is perhaps the nicest bar in Stockbridge. Offering a great wine list, a stellar beer selection, and hearty portions of well-prepared, though somewhat unimaginative, food. Try the eggs Benedict with salmon for breakfast, or discover that mash, gravy, and veggie sausages can actually be very very tasty. Personally, I prefer to just sink down a nice pinot and eat an embarrassing amount of bread and olives. Prices are a bit higher than the average pub, but not absurdly so.

Perhaps the best thing about Hectors has to do with beauty. Eh? You see, the décor is super-elegant and contemporary, with candlelit tables and a cozy fire that combine to make Hector’s very pleasing to the eye. Moreover, Hector’s seems to be a gathering place of Edinburgh’s young and trendy upper-middle class professionals (a.k.a., Manson’s the Beautiful People). I am not saying that this bar is snooty, but arrive looking smart, ‘cause all the cool kids are doin’ it.

Hectors is my favourite bar in Edinburgh and possibly the world. It's the best decorated, with the best food, the crowd is always lively and the music always spot on. It's slightly pricier than the other bars in the area, but you'll be able to find a space on a friday night where you wouldn't on George street and still feel like your out on the town.

Hectors is a staple of Stockbridge. The place to see or be seen. Great any night of the week and any time on weekend. They have a range of imported beers on tap, an excellent variety of wine and sumptuous fare on offer. This place provides a relaxed venue for just about any occasion. Be patient and a table will show up.
