The Soak

I found the food awful. The pub was very quiet and we were told food would be 15 minutes; we waited over half an hour. When it arrived, it was horrific. 

The Fish was burnt, shrivelled and hard, the peas were dry and far overcooked, and the chips were again dry and far too overcooked.
The Lasagne was gelatinous, you could slice it like a gateau! Tasteless!
The Burger was little better, served on a stale dry bun.
It all just tasted poor, clearly bought in ready-made, we only ate it because we were ravenous after waiting so long.

Easily the Worst Food I've eaten at a Pub in a very long time.

Usually loud and heaving with customers, the Soak is a modern bar aimed at the trendier end of the student drinker demographic. There's loads of seating and plenty of pool tables and wide-screen tellies for watching sports.

Most definitely not the kind of place you'd go during the evening to enjoy a quiet few with some friends. You'll be lucky if you can hear yourself think over the crowd. This is better suited for getting ready for a night on the town, although if you end up going during the day you can enjoy a meal in relative peace.

Good for watching the football, puts on a good quiz with great prizes and serves good beer and food. Situated close the the university so its worth popping in on your way back from lectures or exams to meet up with friends. They serve a good range of drinks and with student ID they are very cheap compared to many other places. Can get quite busy sometimes though.
