8 reviews of Tootsies in English
The best thing about Tootsies is the location directly on the river. And given the low rating here on Qype and my own experience I believe that this is also the reason why it still exists.
We (3) sat on the outside and moved inside when it become chilly. The move was quite an effort as the waiter was not able to decide whether we can do such a thing. The same was happening to a couple sitting next to us. After we sent a diplomat to the manager we were finally able to move and it turned out that there were 8 empty tables (not half of them being occupied during the course of the evening).
But this is something that I can live with. The worse part is the food, we had salad and burgers and as one of the tags describes it. Mediocre. The patties were far from being freshly made. The buns burnt and more cross than soft. Blue Cheese = name of the burger, non-existent.
Appetizers garlic bread and Nachos. Both straight from Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen nightmare USA…
Would I go there again? Yes, to have bear on the outside. Eat? A clear: no way.
Very nice restaurant, child friendly with delicious burgers. Prices for kids meals are about £5 and adult meals are around £8 for burgers. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the view from the windows is of the river and boats sailing past. Definately a good relaxing tasty restaurant for any occasion. I recommend it!
Tootsies has a nice view of the river. The interior decor looks nice and the wait staff are reasonably good. Food at Tootsies is very very subpar so I would not go back again.
This place has great views…..and stops just about there. Food is OK and nothing to brag about. It is challenging to get the staff to understand you. Eventually when you think they so, they bring u something completely different!
Freindly for kids though. Serves Anabel Karmel menu so mums with kids who like her food….this is a good place!
Toosies is terrible. In my opinion - which appears to be shared by all the other reviewers here, Tootsies is a great place to come if you want to be ripped off eating tasteless crappy food served up by vacant antipodean staff that don't give a toss! Simply awful.
Fortunately, the white cross is 30 seconds walk from here! Hurray!
I wouldn't say this is the worst place in the world to eat (stick to the bog-standard burger, they tend not to overcook that) but there's so many other great places in Richmond, you shouldn't really choose to eat here unless you happen to be on expenses (so that you don't waste your own money on the food) and/or too lazy to walk anywhere else.
Oh, beware the bugaboos, too.
'Lets go by the river' said my Barclays Bank (Premiere)Relationship Manager, so I took him to Tootsies Richmond and bang went any chance of an overdraft extension.
The first five seconds, when we saw the view of the Thames, were encouraging, but from there on it went down hill faster than Herman Maier in the Mens Super-G, with my credit rating in fast pursuit.
A cranberry juice clearly challenged our waitress as an orange juice appeared, which was stragely fizzy, in a bad way. I went safe with a salmon salad but despite an empty restaurant it took them a good 20 minutes to fathom that this was unavailable. The chicken wing that appeared another 20 minutes later was clearly so embarrassed to be seen here that it was hiding under a very small lettuce leaf.
I was waiting for Jeremy Beadle to appear and prove that it was a prank, but to no avail.
Worst of all the staff apparently had no concept of being awful. Either they think this is normal or they are all out of work actors, and clearly talented ones at that.
I like my bank manager but this was torture. 5 minutes would have sufficed. Strangely he resigned the next day. I wonder why.
They claim to have "the best burger you ever tasted"..... but i beg to differ. Tootsies food is satisfactory, that's about it. One of the things i don't miss about the USA is restaurants serving enormous tasteless portions - this is Tootsies in a nutshell.
It does have a great balcony overlooking the river thames, but the food is average and the service is laughable.
hafi46 I think, the Balcony is the best at this restaurant. With the rest i agree with you.
