Il Forno is a top place to eat. Food is always good and the staff are friendly and helpful. It is a bit pricey for an Italian restaurant but you do get what you pay for.

Superb meal, atmosphere and staff! Can't rate it higher cause the scale only goes up to 5!!! We went with 2 kids (11 & 7) and the staff were really great with them and extremely helpful/courteous throughout!
Excellent and I'm hard to please/impress! Tiger prawn starter a particular highlight but all great and clean plates across the board!! :)

Beautiful restaurant, made to feel very welcome by the staff, attentive and really friendly. Food seemed fresh and tasty, nice ambience being busy for a monday night.

Style over substance. Beautiful surroundings and the food is beautifully presented, but the flavours are either confused or absent. At this price point you would be right to excpect more.

I was taken to Il Forno as a special treat and the meal was incredible from start to finish. We were seated around the corner from the main part of the restaurant (where the pizza oven is) which was a little disappointing but not a major issue.
The starters (calamari for him, carpaccio of beef for me) were glorious and generously proportioned. The main courses (carbonara and lasagne) were equally as lovely and were both proclaimed 'the best ever'. We didn't make it to dessert as the portion sizes had been so large. We had possibly the best bottle of red wine that I've ever had (recommended by the very knowledgeable waiter) and the whole meal just felt really special.
Service was efficient but not obtrusive and we didn't feel rushed at all, which can be a problem in many city centre restaurants.
It wasn't a cheap meal by any standards but it was well worth it.

I had been in the Fact cinema with a friend to see a film and afterwards wanted to have a quick drink before we headed for home.
The assistant on door duty asked if we had booked (the place was not very full) and we informed her that we just wanted a couple of drinks.
She then went over to the manager and asked if this was ok? He said drinks where only allowed for customers having meals.
We then turned to walk out and he said he would make an exception. A waiter took us to our seats and we placed an order.
We chatted and 20 minutes had passed by and we still had not received our drinks. My friend asked if there was a problem and was told no.
Personally I felt that the manager looked down upon us even though we where very smartly dressed.
I would not go into this establishment ever again.

I recently went here and was very disappointed. I went on an off chance with my family, so we hadnt booked. The restaurant was really empty, and when we walked in the woman said have you booked. When we said no, she looked at us as if to say you should book for here. Anyway, I fancied sea bass, but I only like my fish fresh, so before I ordered I asked the waitress was the fish fresh. She said yes and so I was looking forward to a nice meal. But my sea bass wasn’t fresh, it was definately frozen. And the prices they charge for frozen fish is ridiculous! My mother got a pasta, and she was also disappointed with it. I would never go here again

We took my mother-in-law here for her birthday meal. She loved the tagliatelle bolognese! We all enjoyed the rosemary and salt foccacia, the little dish of olives was also good. I liked the pizza boscaiola very much - lovely thin base, delicious wild mushroom flavour.
The wine list was fabulous - so much to choose from! We started with a glass of prosecco, which came with a strawberry on the edge of the glass - very nice! We had a superb red wine too - delicious.
The parts we were less impressed with were the minestrone soup - rather bland vegetable soup. Also the tiramisu tasted like it had come from a huge factory somewhere in eastern europe - mass produced and tasteless.
However I would definately eat here again - very clean place, nice environment, friendly helpful staff, reasonable prices.

I’ve eaten here quite a few times now, and have found the service to be pretty average.
It is an italian restraunt, so pastas and pizza is on the menu.
The staff is great, friendly and helpful.
The prices of food are reasonable and I can’t complain!

Il Forno is both authentic and rustic, yet upmarket and swanky. The food is Italian food at it’s best, yet they also offer such things as the Americano pizza, covered in Frankfurters and fries! Yet it works and works really well. And tasts really good, even the Americano pizza!
The staff are really friendly and there is a real buzzing atmosphere to the place.
Great for groups and romantic couples.
Parking isn’t great, you just have to try to find a spot on one of the side streets, but we’ve always found one.
The pizza ovens have to be seen to be believed, they’re HUGE!

Il Forno is certainly the best Italian restaurant I have visited in the area. The food is excellent with a wide range of choices. The potato pizza is delicious and nice to try something a bit different. The lasagne is the best I have ever had, so good that I dream about it all the time :) A thick layer of gooey mozzarella, toasted to perfection, laid on top of piping hot ground beef in a rich tomatoey sauce..Mmm! Makes me want to go back there right now!
The restaurant is laid out nicely, with an airy feel to it, even when it is busy. The stone oven in which the pizzas are baked is certainly a talking point and really adds to the ambience of the place. There is a delicatessen within the restaurant so you can take a piece of Italy back home with you!

Il Forno has to be my favourite Italian Restaurant anywhere!
Every time we go to Liverpool I try to persuade the people I am with that we should go there.
The food is excellent (I recommend the mushroom Calzone and the roasted potatoes) but the main attraction has to be the massive giant aztec style head which houses the pizza oven. If you are there with a friend then I recommend that you ask to be sat by the head, as you can watch the chefs creating your food and in the winter the heat is fantastic.
The staff are very friendly, when it had been raining heavily they took our coats and laid them out in the cloakroom to dry. The waiting staff are very attentive and the toilets are very clean.
If you want to take guests for a really good meal then Il Forno is the place to go. Fantastic!

Went here for with 6 other friends for a meal out.
Good Italian food but a tad expensive. Can’t comment on the alcohol as I am a teetotal, but according to colleagues, they do have good choices here.
Excellent pasta!
