Spot on this as a place to take the kids in the summer with a picnic. Theres a small playground, masses of open space to play football etc and lovely walks by the lakes and through the woods. Seems each time we go we find somewhere else to explore. We’ve not been in the house as the kids are a little young to appreciate that but the attached farm is great where you can pet and feed the animals etc. Cheap family day out on a sunny day.

Temple Newsam farm is a great place to visit and if you have a Leeds card it is free. It is usually closed on Mondays for the care of the animals.
I have been many times with my family and friends as well as relatives who have come to stay from other towns. They all enjoyed it.
When you walk it you are greeted by a friendly man who gives the children some food to feed some of the animals which they love.
Then firstly you see the geese and turkeys followed by the pigs which do smell a bit but that is okay and sometimes they have had some piglets recently and have their names on the board.
Then you walk down the slope and there are some goats which are friendly and love being fed with all the attention.
There are plenty of play areas for small children and some sheep.
It is a nice walk around that area then you can walk back up to the sheds where they are chickens and turkeys.
Besides the animals there are the exhibits in the various farm buildings including old machinery and sometimes displays from blacksmiths which are really interesting.
At the back there are bulls and sheep. There are plenty to see and on the way out there is a specially adapted area for washing hands which is really good to finish off your visit.
Wonderful and very enjoyable.

This is a great day out. Brilliant fun for both adults and children. If you go in spring then there are plenty of lambs around to feed, and you might even be lucky enough to see one being born! You have to pay for entrance and (I think) a little extra for feed, but it is worth spending the money on what is guarenteed to be a lovely day out.

A lovely local farm for both the young and old…...I loved every minute of being there and I am 35 years old!!
Children can stroke the animals and help feed and muck out.
Gift shop with plenty of big and small gifts - something to remember your day with or something to give as a present to someone else.
I would take a picnic as the food is dear in price - with a picnic this can be a cheap good day out with the children who will enjoy every minute of it.
A lovely walk around the grounds on a nice sunny day is out of this world.

A small animal farm in the grounds of Temple Newsam House, off the A63 east of Leeds.
Pigs, cattle, poultry and lots more.
A great place to visit for all ages, particularly in Spring when all the young animals are on show.
Kids love it but so do most adults.
Educational too !

Temple Newsam is great for a day out, even if you want to spend no money. We went for a lovely long walk round the grounds with our baby in his pram, the pathways are fine for all types of buggy. There is plenty to do without visting the house or paying to go in the farm.
The cafe is nice and the toilets are very clean. I would say that the cafe is 'cosy’, but that was good as we could happily wheel our buggy in without worrying about a carpet being messed up. Good value drinks and food too.

The farm is an exciting place for children and adults alike. I have been 3 or 4 times and the novelty hasn’t worn off yet (for the children at least). It is a working farm and there are a host of animals to see and 'feed’. I would give the gift shop a miss but I will certainly visit the farm again in the summer.

My 2 year old and 1 year old both love the farm, it did once used to be free but now there is a charge of £3 per adult or child over 5. You can get in either cheaper or free with a leeds breeze card.
They have all the usual farm animals and give you some food to feed them. My daughter could stand feeding the sheep and lambs all day long.
In the spting time you get to see all the chicks and if your lucky some will be hatching while your there. The farm do try to hold events especially through school holidays so its worth keeping an eye on leeds city councils website.

Lovely working farm. Kids get a cup full of food to feed anything with four legs, and there is a little play park at the bottom of the farm, which can amuse kids for about half an hour. Admission is £3 each but free with an annual Leedscard (see www.leeds.gov.uk) which cost £7. Breeze cards are the equivalent for under 19's and free. You don't need a be a leeds resident to use a leedscard.

Also it is free entry to the farm with a Leeds Card (well worth getting for about £7 ) Parking is also free if you go around to the car park near the playground not near the house. Everyone’s right - its a great day out.

Nice little farm with loads of animals all within stroking distance. Washing facilities are available to clean your hands afterwards. It’s not too expensive to get in and it can be a nice day out. The farm is surrounded by loads of fields and lakes if you fancy a walk or a picnic. There is a coffee shop and a little gift shop. All in all a great cheap day out.

It’s really really nice here - there are loads of animals you can visit and actually get involved with by helping muck out, feed, or just pet them. It’s a real farm, with all the sights and sounds of a farm, and I really enjoy traditional pursuits like this.
The farm staff are really lovely, they are obviously really passionate about their jobs and it shows with how informed they are on the animals and their care and how they are happy to chat to people about it.
Prices are good, there is a little cafe, and a gift shop too, and loads of totally free parking, and bins, which is good as there are a lot of picnickers in the area in summer time.
It’s so nice to have and to see something so traditional only 15 minutes or so from Leeds city centre and one of the reasons I love living in Leeds, the varied amounts of things there are to do.
Please take your kids here, they’ll have a lovely day, and take your camera, it’s a day not to be forgotten.
