We bought a pair of lovebirds at 50.00 pounds a few weeks back...had them less than 2 days and had to take them back to the shop as one of them we thought was breathing raspy or was just acting nervous due to new enviroment. Was told by rod the ausie that may be due to ...yes lets hear it...due to aerosols....asked if he would like to keep the birds for a few days to see how they got on...but he declined.
Took them back home....noticed the automatic aerosol was empty in the living room...had been for a couple of weeks or so as told by other family members...never the less moved them to our conservatory...after two weeks the bird in question died.
Went onto the web to see if any more about viper and vine and noticed similar complaints....called the shop and was told by rob this time..yes i sympathise with you as you have not had the birds long...3 weeks or so...he spoke to rod and the shop owner matt and he called me back saying best they could do was to replace the bird and i will have to pay only the cost price !
Told him not acceptable as we are within our rights to ask for 25.00 back for the one bird...a replacement bird may not be a good idea as they may fight.
He said he would relay this on to the owner but never came back to me.
Spoke to trading standards in bury opened a file and they advised me to send a recorded letter....did so viper and vine refused to sign for it....sent again the same letter by normal post with proof of sending...ensuring it will land at the shop...still no response...
Trading Standards advise...
1. Animals should be treated as goods for the purpose of the law.
2.Sales of goods act states should be of satisfactory quality or offer replacement or refund.
3.Regardless of any stated guarantee the purchase is under the contracyt of goods sales act.
4.We have the statutory right to pursue this matter.
Have spoken to trading standards today and as advised writing for the final time to viper and vine to see if we can come to a mutual agreement to settle this matter within 7 days or we will be taking them to a smalls claims court...that by the way is inexspensive to do.
Will post in due course any further developments....
Point of this post is to point out to viper and vine that not everyone will let them walk over them and accept their pathetic excuses for the sale of some sick animals that are not of a satisfactory quality.
1st and last purchase at viper and vine.

Viper & Vine has got to be up there with the best. We went to look at some chickens for the back garden, but could not resist a look at the reptiles. The shop is clean, and the reptiles and furry friends all housed in clean warm surroundings, we were really impressed, we purchased 4 chickens and will go there again, expert information is freely given and we were shown how to clip the wing feathers to stop our girls escaping.
On another visit for feed the owner gave advice again on chickens that have a cough and how to treat them.
I intend to purchase any additions to our flock from here and would not hesitate to recommend the shops(there are two next to each other) to any one that wants good old fasioned service, with value for money. I promise you will not be dissapointed, I am not related to the owner, just a very satisfied customer.

We called into Vipe and Vine and are seriously looking to buy two chameleons. The place is wonderfully set up and all the animals have plenty of space. Not seen a shop to match it

A fantastic reptile and aquatic store, the shop is actually two shops with reptiles and invertebrates in one building and the other building houses the aquatic side.
The store is only small but carries a massive range of livestock and sundries, all available space is used to it’s maximum capacity, so it’s probably not the best place for a person who is scared of snakes to be!
They have your usual corns and pythons, but they also stock more unusual animals and have a large range of tarantulas and scorpions too.
Couple with the friendly and very helpful staff, this is definitely one of the best reptile stores you could hope to visit.
