Godiva kicks ass, if you need threads to make you the hot style soul of the most dirty, funky party then head yourself to this sweeet little shop right now. It’s got a two room set up - the first is a decadent abundance of weird and wonderous new fashion by some bright young designer people who are all gonna be HUGE in New York or somewhere one day. Some of it is pretty pricey but it’s all handmade in edinburgh apparently, so at least you’re not spending a hundred quid lining the pockets of some sweat shop whip cracker in Bangladesh. Out the back they’ve got all the super hip vintage stuff you could dream of -those endlessly cool US t-shirts, loopy 80s dresses and smooth chic 60s ones, delicate old shoes, headscarves, jackets, coats, shirts…
And, the service is ace too, see if you can catch the owner Fleur who works there sometimes, she’ll help you with anything and knows all there is to know about clothes, style, the city of Edinburgh and particularly the best party places. Where you can show off your new outfit!

Godiva is a mix of beautiful customised clothing by exceptional young designers with an amazing back room full of vintage delights from as far as Barcelona! I love this shop, hours seem to pass mingling with friends on the voluptuous leather sofa while grabbing the outfits hot off the sewing machine downstairs!

The front room of Godiva is full of wonderful vintage-style clothing and accessories by brand new designers: generally beautifully cut and a lot more interesting than the high street, while still being really wearable, and the prices aren't too bad at all - similar to high street price tags, in fact! The back room is a great vintage collection: unlike Armstrongs and the like the items have been well selected, so while there's not much space, every item is something covetable. The prices are actually a fair amount lower than Armstrong's too, especially with the 10% student discount, and if you're a textiles student you've got it made - there are good deals especially for you! Definitely worth a visit.

For vintage with a twist, Godiva stashes retro and reworked items for both the lads and the lasses alongside nicely cut brand new kimono jackets and knickerbockers in dandyish prints from young Scottish designers. No need to ride naked.
