This is the nearest spa to where I live and is the only reason I ever went back.  My last visit, however, was such a waste of money that there won't be a return custom from me, ever!  I booked a an hour and a half package with "luxury" facial and a massage.  I was hoping for a relaxing experience with a therapist massaging any stresses away.  Instead, I could not wait for this experience to finish.  The session started with the "therapist" practically throwing cleanser on my face and proceeding to rub and stretch my face, eye lids and all.  (The cleanser got into my eye and I had to buy an eye wash from Boots later to clean it at home).  The movements were rough and there was no massaging just rubbing, stretching and pulling.  This continued with the mask on - when it was completely dry.  I was getting more tense and anxious realising that this person had hardly any experience in facials or massages as it included my armpits and inside my ears!  The head massage that I meant to receive was a 2-minute ruffling of my hair and a back massage consisted of three movements but mainly circular movements with elbows.
After my ordeal was over I approached the manager who looked a bit bemused but in no way apologetic.  She said she'd speak with the girl and get back to me.  She didn't get back to me and I am not surprised - when I called before the massage wanting to add a waxing session, she said 'come 10 minutes earlier, your therapist will be free'; only to see when I arrived fifteen minutes earlier for this time to be given away to a walk-in customer.
Shame, really - nice location and decor, and even my "therapist" was a nice girl just not qualified for the job.  Big disappointment.

NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE! Worst customer service ever. I bought a voucher online as a gift for my sister, 2 weeks later and it still didn't arrive. After 3 phone calls i decided to just ask for a refund as the spa seemed incompetent of solving this issue despite the money having left my account. 1 month later and about 8 phone calls and i am still waiting for a REFUND! My advice...DON'T WASTE YOR TIME, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I also got a gift voucher, a present from my dear wife, and I am glad to report that my experience was excellent from start to finish. I spent my gift on a full body massage and headed over there yesterday decked out in my best underpants only to discover that my therapist was in fact a masseur of the male variety: Tommy was his name, firm hands is his game.

Aside from a short wait, everything else was flawless. He was thorough in assessing any potential serious problems before ironing out whether or not I had particular areas of physical need. The room and towels were all spotlessly clean and fresh and the choice of music was of your typical massage room variety. What's more, despite the location just off Upper Street Kumantra manages to be a cocoon of tranquility.

Alas, battle commenced. I like it hard and despite his small frame Tommy gave me one hell of a going over and was happy to chat if I wanted to chat and equally quiet when I (in one of life's rare moments) didn't have anything to say. I was almost in hysterics as he tried to work my ticklish feet, but we even got around that.

Afterwards he gave me a bit of advice on stretching techniques to keep areas of particular tightness as free and nimble as possible and I happily went on my way. As I was free to go in the afternoon, I was able to get a discount rate and although the cost is considerably more than the massages I was having this time last year in SE Asia, it was still worth every penny.

This place is pricey, but looks great and has a classy website. I bought a friend a gift voucher and am sad to say they were hugely disappointed. I feel ripped off and extremely embarrassed that I put my friend through their experience. Seems to have the basics right but needs to finesse the experience. Don't think I would be brave enough to try this place myself or recommend to others.

I used to go to another salon up the road from Kimantra to get my hollywood waxing done. It was terrible. I consulted my friend and asked her where she got her's done and she told me Kimantra is the place to go. So I tried it out on her recommendation and boy oh boy was it so much better! Relatively pain free and done to perfection. They even gave me some tips of what not to do after which I was never told about in the past salon that I went to. Best part is, it is only £23 BUT! If you buy a course of 5 you get 1 free or 10 and get 3 free! Now that is perfection and a bargain in one!

Thank god for Kimantra!

I love the feeling of walking into a beauty salon and feeling completely relaxed, something they manage very well at Kimantra.
Both times i've been here they have been running very late for my appointment though they make up for it with quick and friendly service. Prices are reasonable and I'll be going back again.

I love spa treatments. Spa treatments are brilliant. I’m not a particularly hygienic person but that just makes the cleansing qualities of a spa even more of a bonus for me, as I leave smelling of oils and lotions instead of the inside of a bin which has been left in the sun for three weeks. Enough about my body odour, it’s time for me to chat about the AMAZING massage I had at Kimantra and why I think it’s a brilliant central place to get some treatments.

So I went for the one hour full body deep tissue massage, as after being hunched over a desk for the past 6 weeks revising for exams my spine was more curved than a banana, and as soon as I arrived I felt the stress begin to melt away. The shop is small but calm, with soft lighting and a comfortable waiting area. I was taken through to the treatment room and pummelled by a man who was built like a barn and incredibly sweet. Apart from when he was making me weep as he loosened every muscle in my body. Often I find that massages are too soft and gentle, but this was perfect- just the right balance of pleasure and pain [I’m hoping I’m not revealing too much about myself in this review; first my lack of washing, now this…].It was pricey but there are cheaper treatments and in my opinion it was worth every penny. Brilliant.
