I'm not generally a great fan of the gay venues in Sitges, which are often eye-wateringly pricey. But the Picnic bar and restaurant, situated above Sitges' main central gay beach, the Playa De la Bassa Rodona, is one of the better joints during the day. It serves reasonably priced tapas and snacks, coffee, beer and soft drinks, and is friendly enough, though the service can be a bit hit-and-miss.

There are plenty of shaded outdoor eating areas, and those on the beach side provide a good vantage point from which to view the gay beach itself - packed solid with sun-loungers and their roasting occupants - if that's your thing. Unsurprisingly, the terraces on the promenade side are quieter and have slightly quicker service..
