Salathai Restaurant

To make a good massaman curry you need to cook the meat in the coconut milk based sauce for a long time so that the meat is tender and delicious. Salathai offer either beef, duck, chicken or prawn massaman. They achieve this obviously by having a vat of massaman sauce base and put precooked thin slices of meat in at the last minute. Disappointing. Having said that, starter platter was good, service was good and the atmosphere nice.

Nice little Thai restaurant around the corner from the Abbey, tucked away off the main street (as photo indicates). Once you successfully navigate the steep steps going down as you walk through the main entrance, find a nicely decorated modern restaurant with v. high standard of service. Extensive menu, fairly reasonably priced but has early bird and lunchtime specials too. Food is very good and would recommend a visit.
