This is an eronious review as there are 2 owners and we have never ordered an incorrect size of gown. We take Client’s measurements and order gowns so they will be as closely matched to the client’s size as possible. It is fair to say that sizing in the Wedding Industry differs from the High Street and tends to be smaller – so we warn clients that if they are a 14 on the High Street – they may be a 16 in their bridal gown. We have an excellent tailoring service and gowns are always altered to fit perfectly on the day. This is why we have been Nominated in the VOWS Awards so many years running!

I recently had a disgusting and appalling service with this horrible shop.
It seemed fine at first, the four bridesmaids picked their perfect dresses. 4 different colours, 4 different styles, so as you can imagine the colours needed to fit in together really well. The bride had chosen violet purple, fuschia pink, scarlett red and turquoise blue.
We ordered and paid for the dresses in september 2011, after all of the bridesmaids were measured (with at least 2 inches being added to everyones measurements, presumably so they can charge us more for alterations).
2 weeks before the wedding it's our final fitting. We try on our dresses, all but 1 of them were wrong, the pink one was a very dull shade of pink and we were expecting a difference but not as much. The scarlet red dress was now a wine red and the style was completely different from the one tried on in September. The turquoise dress was all of a sudden a deep dark teal, horrible! Not only that but it didn't fit the bridesmaid as it was too short (even though the one we tried on fit her perfectly.) the advice given to us by the fitter was that she wear flat shoes. Fantastic but she looked like a roman.
Since the wedding was themed around the four colours of the bridesmaids the flowers, chair sashes and kilt ties were all changed.
When the ill fitting dresses came a few days before the wedding to our surprise the now teal dress was suddenly a light shade of blue. Much better than the teal but the wedding was now themed around the teal and had to be changed again at short notice. Some things could not be changed.
After all the hassle with the bridesmaids dresses the owners the shop took it upon themselves to harrass the bridal party to pay for a kilt that they seemed to think we had ordered but we had cancellled and no one had picked up. The shop owners exact words were, "well I've paid for it so someone is getting invoiced for it."
After this disgusting, astoundingly bad, terrible service it brings me great pleasure in informing you of just how bad these people are.
Save yourself the hassle, time and money and don't purchase from them. Find someone else.

Do not buy anything from this store! I had a terrible experience. They ordered me the wrong size, even though the paperwork stated otherwise, and when altered didn’t fit me properly. As it was four weeks before my wedding I had to make do with the dress. The owner did not accept any blame for this and was extremely rude and obnoxious. She even had the audacity to charge me for the alterations. As a result, I wasn’t happy at all with my dress on the day.

The size 10 fitted me perfectly. This was written on the order form – which I have a copy of. You then ordered me a 12, which was huge! There was an attempt to take it in, but it still didn’t look right. As the dress had straps there was only so much adjusting that could be done.
I would never have ordered it should I have known it would be a size 12, but as it was 4 weeks before the wedding my hands were totally tied.
It would have been nice to, at the very least, receive an apology for your quite obvious error! Instead I was patronised by both the owner and seamstress.
You ruined my day, a day that I’ll never get back again. The wedding was perfect apart from my dress, which should be one of the most important things.
Don’t be fooled at how ‘nice’ the staff appear at first. As soon as they have your money it will be a totally different experience.
I have nothing else to say on this matter.
I have ordered my Wedding and Bridesmaid dresses from this shop. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and made me feel at ease instantly! I was in the shop on my first visit for over 4 hours and they could not have been more accomodating.
I would recommend this shop to anyone, they really know how to make your time spent there special! The dresses they have their are out of this world. I fell in love with mine at first sight and even though I didnt want to choose a dress this quickly…. I was hooked!!!
Go back for my first fitting this June, I hope if the alteration service is as bad as people are saying – that it has improved somewhat. However if it is as good as the staff and customer service – I have nothing to worry about.

I had a very similar experience to ailso42 review above unfortunately. The alterations service is extremely poor. Given that Helensburgh is a small seaside town and not the most accessible location in the world, the shop/service offered such limited days/times for their alterations service meaning that you inevitably have to arrange to get time off work to suit the shop and their staff. This became such a nightmare to coordinate between me and my bridesmaids, especially when the alterations were not done right first time round, meaning we all had to make several return trips to the shop, and extra time off work!
To top it off, I had the unfortunate experience of discovering that one of my bridesmaid dresses was not properly altered 2 days before my wedding. My bridesmaid was not in the country and therefore arrived 2 days before to discover that the shop had not completed the alterations that were agreed at her final fitting (seemed like they had just forgotten to do them - but of course I was charged for it!). I had no time to deal with the shop at this point and had to take the dress to a local dressmaker. The dressmaker was limited as to what she could do to alter the dress, as the Wedding Planner had made a complete mess of it, leaving no room for further alterations. We had to have straps added to the bridesmaid dress (which was never intended in the first place) in order to fix the problem. Overall it was a really bad experience and poor quality job with regards to the alterations service. I would def. recommend going elsewhere for alterations as they just don't seem at all competent.
Initially I was relatively happy with the general sales service provided by the staff at the shop - that was until after the wedding when I emailed (twice) the shop to explain to them the problem I experienced with the bridesmaid dress - I have had no response whatsoever, they have completely ignored my correspondence, which I just think is so rude and ignorant!

Would never buy anything from this shop again, the bridesmaid dresses were lovely, but they didn't have a clue on fitting them for my bridesmaids. We went to collect the dresses and both didn't fit, weren't done properlyat all. We took the dress home for the adult bridesmaid and got someone to sort it but the Wedding Planner staff agreed to post the smaller dress out to me once they had corrected the mistakes they made. Absolute disgrace...the hem, under the arm, I could have done better myself. The owner/manager of the shop was abissmal, rude and had me in tears. They did send the dress out - in a shoe box!!! Late!! Unbelievable!!! Disgrace!! The money that we spent and it was put in a shoe box!! And still wasn't right. I had to pay another fitter to sort this one too!!! Stay away from this shop - only trouble!!!

What utter nonsense! As if! This is clearly a small time competitor! We have been Nominated for six years in the prestigious VOWS awards!! Our seamstresses are excellent and offer only the highest level of work.

Come now, thats not true.
You blamed me wearing the wrong underwear for my dress not fitting.
A high level seamstress could make the dress fit regardless of underwear.
Just cause you’ve been nominated doesn’t mean you’ve won.
As well as a wedding planning service (which I haven’t used - these things didn’t exist when I got married 40 yrs ago!) this is also a lovely little retail boutique specialising, unsurprisingly, in wedding paraphernalia.
They have a beautiful selection of wedding clothing for brides, bridesmaids and mother of the bride, tiaras, jewellery including gorgeous Swarovski crystal, shoes and other accessories.
According to a sign in the window, this place has been nominated for the Vows award 2005-08. Whatever that is!
It’s a decent sized shop, and when I visited the lady serving was very friendly and helpful, so I’d highly recommend.

And now they’re trying to take the bride to court over this review. Like I say AVOID!
It’s shocking that a company can get away with this sort on nonsense time and time again.
I can honestly say I’ve never come across such terrible service in my life!!
I hope the bride is ok??
