A cup of tea and a slice of cake aunt Sally? Old Worzel would have been in his absolute element if he’d have found Konditor and Cook. There are a few in London nowbut my favourite is on the cornes of Cornwall Street just 2 mins walk from Waterloo station. It sells cakes by the whole or the slice. Lemon chiffon, dark chocolate, curly wurly cake and carrot cake to name but a few. They a are wonderful if you have a close friends birthday coming up as they will write whatever you like on them. They also have tiny little cakes called Magic cakes, they make great little presents. Their bread is top quality – sells out fast though and their handmade sausage rolls are to die for if you are suffering a sore head from the night before. Coffee is top notch too.

And yes there are magic cakes and a purple painted exterior to this cornershop on Cornwall Road.
The staff look sane and friendly, not frivolous and waving a starry wand as you might hope, but they do deliver the cakes, thus demonstrating there is some merit in a sensible arrangement of the features and appropriate attire (they wear domestic aprons) some of the time.
In an adjoining back room, much mixing, icing, cooking, cooking and putting of felicitous greetings on cakes goes on.

An outstanding modern deli, that majors best in bakery items. The cakes are amazing - with an extensive range. You can buy by the slice or a whole cake - they all tend to be really rich. So go easy! There are 4 or 5 K&C's across Central London, this one is at the base of the awesome "Gherkin" Swiss Re: Building & benefits from outside seating in the plaza area. Great destination for special occaision cakes. Also they do good salads & sandwiches at lunchtime.
