I needed an impromptu place to take my daughter for diner and what a rediscovery this place was.
The menu is very varied, I had the stroganoff, my daughter had the steak and chips (now priced at £15, but for the quality I would put this as a reasonable price).
Excellent glass of Merlot.
This place has a great ambiance and whereas most of the other cafes were shutting up for the day at 18:30, this place was open and nearly full. It has what the danes call 'hygge', which is a difficult effect to achieve, but this place manages to do it.
Actually describing this place as a cafe does not do it justice. It is a least a bistro, more like a restaurant.

No idea how anyone could claim this place is too pricey-they do one of the best steaks you'll ever eat for 12 quid and that's pretty much the most expensive dish on the menu. Fantastic home cooked food at excellent prices and a lovely chilled out atmos make this one of my fave eateries. A true slice of old school French cuisine with a genuinely inventive twist. Warm and welcoming service. Stop Reading and start booking a table!

Nice enough cafe but ridiculously overpriced. The food is ok but nothing special.

This has got a real good quality feel to it. It’s a lovely place for a date - cosy and intimate, or for some quality time with a friend or family member. I love the goats cheese and cranberry toast for starter - it’s not too overpowering but full of flavour. They do some nice main courses (my favourites: Persian lamb and aubergine) and, something that particularly excites me: crepes! The staff are friendly and the service is good. Drinks are quite cheap compared to some other restaurants, with soft drinks coming in at around £1.70.

Great ambience, really cosy and nice lighting. It’s good for a drink or coffee in the afternoon and a nice place to impress a date as it becomes an intimate candlelit French restaurant/bistro after dark.
Reasonable prices for fresh food that has that home-cooked touch… even the desserts! Welcoming, friendly staff.
Well worth checking out next time you find yourself in Headington, probably want to book a table on a Saturday.
There is a downstairs dining room which can be booked for large parties, and there is seating outside at street level so you can watch the world roll by.

Much more than a cafe! It’s really simple and plainly decorated but it has lots of character. The food is excellent and I go there for coffee, lunches - great simple salads- drinks after work - and of course dinners.
The steak is so tender and beautifully cooked.
Always good!
