I had a reasonably priced meal there recently but I did have a 50% off the price of food deal from the every faithful toptable. Otherwise I would be inclined to agree that the food prices are a bit overpriced for what you get.
My only gripe with the place is that the tables are far too close together, I don't want to hear details of what people's medical complaints are or if they need to have their bunions looked at...
The standard of the food was good, not knock your socks off and taking you to culinary ecstacy but stroked the tastebuds gently. A bit like when someone wears red to a village fete.
But one thing that I found good about the restaurant was the service. We were fortunate and blessed to have lovely staff that were attentive and did make our meal pleasurable.
I'll definitely be going back. Just not when I am on a diet.
This is a very decent french restaurant albeit maybe a tad too expensive. Having said that the lunch deal is worth it. I had the boudin noir, black pudding, which was a treat oozing with goodness and marshalled into the plate by a few gently caramelised apple bits. Delicious.

Have now been here three times due to their excellent lunch deal. Half price - I booked through Top Table. Good food, service good without being to attentive and atmosphere fairly relaxed. Would recommend.

I couldn’t find anything wrong with this place (not that I was, or tend to, look for it).
The staff were knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, and dressed very “properly” in black and white, the food was classical but unpretentious. The wine list suffered from being a little bit too French, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying a very good Chablis and a Cotes de Rhone which was better than the price would suggest. There was enough by the half-bottle as well, for the liver conscious.
Having seen the cheese board, and as I was dining with a friend with a sweet tooth, we passed the starters (which was a great shame: fois gras, snails, frogs legs, pate. Actually, it would have taken me an age to chose, so probably for the best!)
I ate cod with a saffron sauce, which was just exquisite! I tend not to eat cod, in a self-righteous attempt to replenish fish stocks single-handed, but this was worth placing my morals aside for. It was just cooked to perfection, was utterly flavoursome and it looked damn pretty too.
Highly recommended, they do a very good lunch menu deal. One of the best places in Smithfield, in my humble opinion.
