Old Curiosity Shop, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford

This is a great little vintage shop. Put me in a town or village, and I’ll sniff out the best little vintage shop in the whole place. It’s a rare gift.

And this place is full of treats. Its crockery and china is well worth a look. I bought a little milk jug for £6.95 and i love it. Perfect for my pots of tea.

The dresses looked like they were pretty good quality, but I didn’t have time to look through them properly. I loved the jewellery and accessories. Great for little bits and bobs and presents.

The best bit? The staff in here were so friendly. We had a chat with the man here about the Hay festival (the reason for our trip) and he did his best to find a B&B he knew of that didn’t hike their prices up over the festival - very rare. He couldn’t find the card, but I do have their now - I’m meant to call them and get the name and number so I can get a good deal next year. That kind of helpful service doesn’t happen very often - especially not to tourists who have already bought what they wanted. Maybe living in London has made me cynical - they’re friendly in Wales.
