Great location and a really nice indoor space with cozy, comfortable sofa sitting areas as well as tables and chairs for serious dining. There is also an outdoor sitting area which is under cover and heated in the winter making it suitable for all year use. There are even sofas out there making it a really comfortable place to hang out with friends. This pub has a really friendly feel, even organizing book clubs and quizzes.

The Marlborough is one of the great tragedies of the Richmond drinking scene. A lovely location, nice interior, beer garden, covered heated smoking area, and you'd think you'd be on to a winner. In fact, the staff aren't just incompetent, they're downright rude, aggressive and and disinterested. I have, at times, queued for over 20 minutes to get served whilst being the only customer at the bar!

DO NOT TOUCH the food here. Overpriced and all heated (sometimes not all that successfully heated) from frozen. They even got rid of the giant Sudoku. What a shame.

Alternatives: The Waterman's Arms in Water Lane is a great pub - and don't forget, The White Cross for riverside drinks.
