I randomly found Hotel Mikli? whilst looking for somewhere to park in Kranjska Gora on a drive up from Croatia in search of decent skiing. It's a real gem, right at the top end of town, at the side of the first green runs so you're straight out on the slopes of a morning. Gregor is a charming host who makes you feel welcome, and cooks a mean ham and eggs every morning. The restaurant is good, if a little pricey by local standards, so it's well worth checking out the vast array of other amusing eateries nearby.
Kranjska Gora is no Courchevel, but you don't have to deal with hordes of old-etonian's hopping in from the altiport either. The highest black run is reasonably challenging (probably a bit more than the Suisse in the aforementioned resort), but as there aren't 100's of km's of pistes you'll get good at it.
The off-piste drifts have been good everytime I've been here, maybe we're just lucky with the snow... it's not terribly high.
Anyway - it's a great place to stay with some friends of mixed ability who don't want to spend a fortune. And there's a dentist!
