After an amazing ballet performance at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, Fire & Stone pizza restaurant was just steps away to feed our hunger.
It looks elite even from the outside and as we enter a waitress kindly asks us to wait a couple of minutes for her to check if there are any available tables. The restaurant has two floors -there’s plenty of room so we are shown to a table on the upper floor. Everything seems to be exquisite -the decor, the layout, the menu, the waiter, perfect compliment for a night out at a theatre or the opera. I’m not feeling out of the place with my elegant little black dress.
The delicious, stone-baked pizzas are sorted -in continents -love the idea! You can find sortiments of Pizza Deluxe (Paris, Brittany, Queenstown), then there they come -Africa, Asia, Americas, Australia, Europe -with different cities included. Ingredients are well listed so you can make a decision where you want to “taste-travel”. I experimented with Casablanca and I was enjoying every bit of it.
Impressive bar, they serve cocktails as well.
Not the cheapest place to go to but once in a while each of us deserves a treat. Not to forget, they offer theatre deals -which inlcudes dinner & tickets to top West End Shows. Culture and cuisine -good match at any time!

This is one of the best places I’ve found to go that doesn’t cost much but still feels like you’re treating yourself. I’ve eaten here a few times - on a date, with a few friends and with a big group of people. Each time I’ve had nothing bad to say about the service. I wouldn’t rave about it (they don’t make any special effort to be friendly) but I haven’t had a bad experience yet.

The decor is hard to describe. Efficient maybe? It’s modern, with lots of steel, but the soft lighting makes it quite comfortable and mellow somehow. Upstairs is definitely better than downstairs as the ceiling is a lot higher. and there seems to be more space between tables.

And the pizzas are amazing. They range from quite simple through to basically a meal complete with potatoes on a pizza base. Every one I’ve tasted I have liked so far.

And the two hour time slot? Who takes that long to eat a pizza?

If you’re judging Fire and Stone on food alone, it should get five stars…provided you like pizza. They take a tired classic and give it a gourmet twist, whacking all kinds of unusual international toppings onto a pizza base. I’ve been a few times because of its proximity to work, and even veggie friends and fussy eaters managed to find something to suit. From an Aussie pizza with sour cream, sweet chilli sauce, roast potato and chicken to a goats cheese and caramelised onion offering, there’s something for everyone.

The restaurant decor is nothing to complain about, though it’s a bit cramped and plasticy. Prices are fair with some good lunchtime offers and specials. However, as with all Covent Garden restaurants, it gets super busy and this is where things get interesting…

Service seems to be a constant problem at this place judging by other reviews. When I’ve been with just one or two friends it’s been slow but tolerable. In big groups, it’s barely worth bothering. On a birthday night out we booked in advance for about 9 people. We were given a ‘time slot’ during which to eat our meal and got some VERY dirty looks when we continued to sit there past our kicking out time. We were only there because they’d not come to sort out the bill and process our card. Looking back I wish we’d just walked out.

Service charge is added to the bill by default, but of course you don’t have to pay it if you don’t want to. This particular night, we chose not to. The food may be good for the price but it’s not outstanding - it’s only pizza after all - and service with a smile costs nothing.

The service in this place is terrible. But it’s great if you want somewhere a bit trendy to go and eat decent pizzas. Just be prepared to experience snooty waiting staff and intermittent attention.

The pizza combinations are interesting and they have some good deals but the service is haphazard and we were charged for things we didn’t order.

Mixed feelings as I’ve been here twice - once with a good friend where we waited for over an hour to get a table but had a whale of a time, leading to the second of actually booking a big dinner party. Both night’s were packed so the place is obviously quite a catch.

Pricing’s not bad for the snooty location and as everyone else has said, the pizza toppings are far from the norm. Many of them, sadly, are a bit bland despite their interesting colours and world-tour City titles. Staff were also not the friendliest, but good to go just to experience it. The smell of the pizzas cooking is yum.

Fire and Stone is a restaurant with a difference, on entering the restaurant you are faced with a gigantic pizza oven in the shape of a chimney and inside you can see the pizzas cooking!

The restaurant itself is pretty relaxing and a great place to come with friends or a date, they do great deals like 2 pizzas for £10 which is great. Their pizzas are pretty amazing, they have a great selection of pizzas from around the globe, I chose the Cairo African pizza which comprised of rosted red and yellow peppers, balsamic roasted red onions, Mozzerella, tomatoes sauce, crumbled goats cheese and pine nuts which was really delicious and my date got the Byron Bay Australia pizza which was made of basil pesto, mixed marinated mushrooms, mozerella, garlic and rosemary rosted potatoes, sour cream, somaked paparika and carmelised onion jam which was pretty awsome too!
We got a bottle of Argentinian wine for £16, and they add on service charge which is the only downside!

The pizza’s here aren’t your usual margheritas’ and Hawaiian’s – they are really interesting, fusion toppings from the corners of the globe. The menu does seem to change every so often too… even more of an opportunity to try some unusual combinations. One word of warning however is that they aren’t keen on letting you chop and change your toppings.
The seating is in the form of big long benches (Wagamama style) which makes this place a good venue for a group outing. The staff are friendly but sometimes a little slow due to understaffing and last but not least the prices are good, very good! -With extra deals on their website too if you're organised!

Love it, love it, love it! I grudgingly tell you about this place, as part of me wants to keep it to myself...

Fire and Stone is the perfect answer to your indecision about what cuisine to have - you can have them all! All of their pizza toppings are themed by continent and all are delicious.. Some of the toppings seem a bit out there for the less adventurous, but trust me, just dive in! The wine list is not extensive, but there's a decent enough choice.

The ambiance is great here too - the place looks like the set of Sex and the City (try to go with 4/5 people as you can get a great booth!!) and there's a giant pizza oven at the front of the shop. Service is a little hit-and-miss, but everything else outweighs that. Do expect, however to be politely asked to finish up if you exceed the 2 hour limit - but hey, it keeps the cost down!

Pricing is equivalent to another, more generic, pizza place on the high street - but that's where the comparison ends...

Entering fire and stone is almost walking into an industrial age, with gleaming steel everywhere you look, the huge pizza oven raising up from the ground floor like a chimney, and sparse uniformed tables stretching out to the far back wall.
This large restaurant isn't particularly intimate, but for fans of pizza it's an intriguing place to go, and has great deals for penny saving nights (and days) out.
My favourite pizza here is the Lombok, it's like eating an oriental fusion meal on a pizza, which is a little hard to comprehend but it's an amazing taste sensation.
Check out their website for fab deals such as pizza and wine for £10, and more. Just around the corner from Covent Garden, it’s a great way to eat close to the market without the spine chilling prices of those eateries. I recommend taking a bunch of friends here for a get together, but make sure you have a good plan of action for ordering, as sometimes the service can be a bit hit and miss.
