This is a very modern yet cosy restaurant situated just off Deansgate. As the name might suggest this is a grill house specialising in steaks. They do a steak that costs £50!
I went with a group of friends from work and we all really enjoyed the meal. I had burger for my main course which was really tasty. I had a banana “thing” for my dessert, can’t remember what it was called! I got two bananas, they looked like they’d been fried, the banana inside was soft and warm, absolutely gorgeous!
I can’t wait to go again so I can try something else.

I went here with two colleagues on a Monday night after an exhbition at The Central.
The service was superb - while we had a drink in the bar we mentioned to the barman that we would be eating later on and without us asking he prebooked us a table in case we did want food - this small touch was fantastic.
Downstairs later the service contined to be top along with the superb food. If i lived up in Manchester this would be a regular haunt for me. Well done!

Visited on a Wednesday night, while most restaurants are pretty quiet this place seemed buzzing. Food service and cocktails were top class - I will definatley be returning

Great food- I had the ostrich, which was tasty! However, when ordering food, they didn’t tell me that vegetables were an extra £3.95!!! Despite that oversight, the food came quickly and was cooked very well.
When I have the money, I want to try the kobe beef steak, which at £50 was probably the most expensive thing on the menu!

your comments: This was my third time at this restaurant in the past six months. I have been once for afternoon meal, once in the evening with partner and friend and once for Christmas.
The food was ok the first time but they sat 6 of us in a booth clearly designed for 4 people so things were a little cosy to say the least. I do like this type of food (Quality Steak, Fish etc) and despite the first time I went with a friend for an early evening meal, which was ok.
The food is just ok, nothing special and not a patch on Gaucho’s in Manchester. If you are going out for a good steak my advice is to go to Gaucho the service is better and the food quality is far superior.
The thing that irritated us was they tried to put six guys in a booth that would not fit four of us comfortably. We immediately moved to a round table and told the girl serving us we could not stay there, as it was not comfortable. She said we would have to move but after telling her to get the manager to move us she seemed to leave it at that.
The main gripe was the place charges at the top end of the scale but the food you get does not reflect the cost. As an example the advertise Chicken/beef skewers as a starter and they charge £5.95/£6.95 for these and they deliver ONE skewer for the price!!! We were disgusted at this as we thought Skewers meant plural not singular!!
Summary: The venue is nice, layout and design is good and it is very busy. The food and service let the place down, it is expensive (For what you get) and the girl that served us was embarrassed by the lack of volume in the food. I would say to anyone considering going DO NOT BOTHER! Go to Gaucho’s in Manchester instead as its better value for money and they have more choice and the people serving you are not robots!
I could say a lot more but I think over priced, poor value & terrible service/attitude just about covers it!

I loved everything about this place, it was great. The service was impeccable right from the moment I phoned to book a table all the way through to paying the bill. I was very impressed with the little touches such as actually telling you what items on the menu are sold out before you’ve had a chance to look at the menu and set your heart on a particular dish were most welcome. The food was fantastic, steaks cooked to perfection for all of us who ordered them, and the bill was reasonable for the quality we experienced. I have had better food but the service was outstanding so overall this is one of the best restaurant experiences i’ve had and would recommend it strongly to any visitors to Manchester.

Really good food. The steaks are awesome, cooked to just how you like it and offered with a selection of sauces - a few more chips wouldn’t have gone a miss though!
Haven’t had a bad meal here, the lobster is also very good.
There’s a good selection on the menu and there is something to suit even the fusiest of eaters.
The service is excellent and quick. The decor is nice and intimate and modern without being over the top - overall it’s a great place to go for a special meal.
It’s a little pricey but worth it.

A nice restaurant, serves very tasty steaks. It is always busy and you get a real buzz from the atmosphere. The only downside to this place is the fact that the tables are very close together. It can feel a little bit cramped at times but the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Open kitchen, tables a little close together though i prefer it here to Gaucho. Not so noisy. Plenty of choice of main courses but not so many puddings for those who can get that far after all the meat. Good choice of drinks and plenty of staff so u r not kept waiting as often happens in Manchester restuarants.

Eight of us went to The Grill On The Alley on Tuesday night, to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is pretty large, set over two floors, in a building just off Deansgate and King Street in the centre of Manchester.
The restaurant has a large menu and a comprehensive wine list. Their speciality is arguably steak, offering three cuts (rump, sirloin, fillet) each in three sizes as well as the famous Kobe beef. As well as steak they offer a wide selection of burgers, seafood and other meats.
I started with the baked Camembert, which was served with a cranberry jam (£6). This was lovely however I did find the label from the cheese in the bottom of the terracotta ramekin it was served in… proof that it was authentic Président cheese from France I suppose!
For my main course I had the 11oz sirloin steak (£17.50). This was cooked perfectly to my preference of medium-rare and was served with hand-cut french fries, with their skin on. I also ordered french beans with shallots as a side dish; these were very nice too if a little garlicky for my liking.
The others with me chose a selection of burgers, fish and other steaks, and everyone was very happy with their meals.
Unfortuntely the dessert menu let the restaurant down a little -- the usual suspects of sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake and so on -- and nothing really took my fancy. Coffee, chocolate and digestifs are also availalbe for those that enjoy a drink after the meal.
Service was very friendly and prompt; we had to wait a little while for our main courses but I think this is to be expected when a large group dining together orders steaks. Overall a great restaurant I would recommend to my meat-eating friends, and definitely one I will return to in the future.

This place was set-up by the same team who started Living Room, The menu is a good mix of grills and some good seafood, the kitchen is open and you can see and hear whats going on which is good fun when they get busy! The food isn’t the best, I’ve eaten here half a dozen times and it can be patchy but the environment makes up for it.
The ambiance is really relaxed with some nice booth tables and a good bar area with high tables, I’d defiently recommend it if you want somewhere to have an easy, comfortable meal.

The grill on the Abbey is located in Manchester and is an amazing Steak Resturant I have been fortunate to have eaten here a few times and have never been displeased!! The service is fantastic and you wait no length for your food and when it does arrive it is amazing. The steak are beautiful and so fresh and tasty, the desserts on the menu are a dead winner and if you can find the room after a massive steak i would recommend trying or sharing the Homemade Apple Pie it is really nice. A steak and a dessert with a drink is less than £20 which is brilliant considering the quality.

One of a chain of 5 BlackHouse Grills, this one is Manchester city center, just off John Dalton Street.
You would expect the menu to major on steak, but it includes something for everyone including: clam chowder, mussels, prawns, burgers, suckling pig, chicken, lamb and lobster.
A typical 2-course menu costs around £15-30.
If you fancy spoling yourself with meat that has been ‘spoiled’ too: try the Kobe beef. This beef from Wagyu cattle is raised according to strict Japanese practices that may include a diet of saké, beer and daily massages to relieve muscle stiffness. This is supposed to create a supremely tender well marbled meat. All this pampering doesn’t come cheap, the Kobe burger costs almost £17, and the 8oz Fillet costs £50.
The wine list is not huge, but has a good selection from around £12-80.
