Review of The Merlin from 8 August 2009

Been v disappointed with my last few visits….Bar menu reads nicely but food poorly prepeared and service not that great.

They always seem to be short of bar staff so don’t go if thirsty!

Much better food served in the restaurant.

Review of The Merlin from 2 June 2009

This can be a bit difficult to drive into because of the roundabout, might be better when the bypass is done though. The interior is very relaxing and modern, nice lighting too and the food smells wonderful. The bar area is nice as you come in. we had a few different things off the menu and everyone enjoyed it, we will be going back.

Review of The Merlin from 11 March 2008 (updated on 19 March 2008)

A wonderful selection of food in an even more wonderful environment - the decor of the place is complements the menu perfectly. The great detail that has been gone to provide a quality finish to the fixtures and fittings goes equally into the food, which is excellent for the price.

The extensive wine list and cocktail menu serves as exciting reading, and the martinis are definately worth a mention.

Everyone in the party thoroughly enjoyed their meals, with particular recommendations going to the duck confit and the steak burger, and the honey roasted vegetables were the perfect accompaniment.

For those with a sweet tooth, the chocolate and toffee puddings went down a treat!

All in all, a great find!

Review of The Merlin from 4 October 2007

Contemporary English Cuisine maybe, I think - I know it's nice. Been more recently just for drinks after having a meal elsewhere, is really comfortable, they have nice sofas to lounge on and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Keep meaning to go back for a meal but they're quite busy so you do have to book.

Not too expensive either.
