A must visit if you’re a fan of whiskey!
You really feel like you’re getting a genuine Scottish experience with it’s decor and ambience that feels like it could be 200 years ago.
Good quality food with lots of Scottish options available.
Great location if you’re in the city centre. Worth booking in advance as can get busy.

Haggis and black pudding stack – fantastic. Good service. Interesting surrounds.
Every summer, when my boyfriend and I are visiting the north, we always pop over the border, and if the weather is good, we'll drop by Whiski. We like to sit out the front, sipping a cider (or a whisky, of course!), and treat ourselves to a haggis tower and some people watching.
Lovely service, tasty food, ideal location, but the haggis tower portion size could be knocked up a notch!
This is a fantastic pub, great food, a huge selection of whisky, and even if you dont drink whisky ( I dont) there's plenty to interest you.its a great place to go for a night out, they do regular live music nights, and you can take the kids in for lunch during the day. Top Class.
I visited Whiski after a recommendation from a friend and I have to say it lived up to my expectations! The staff were so polite and friendly I was slightly taken aback- well, it's not every day someone behind a bar asks how your day was. And yes, I'm pretty sure it wasn't flirting!
The staff were particularly accomodating when my German friend, who was fresh off the plane, was asking for Scottish beer recommendations.
The interior is lovely- very Scottish and traditional but it avoids being dark and dingy. Great place to take a friend and show off Edinburgh's pub culture!
Whiski is divine and hosts one of the best Scottish beer selections in the city, the restaurant food is also rather delightful!
The decor is very warm and manages to stay the right side of kitsch, and a plus point for all you visitors with children, it's on the Royal Mile & has high chairs.
Try the mash!

Love this bar/restaurant one of the very few real Scottish ones left in the capital. If you like whisky and good food you will not find better anywhere , has huge variety of Whiskies as well as great fresh homemade food , Steak Pie is legendary in Edinburgh , staff are very good and has good selection of beers/lagers. Scottish band plays about 3 nights a week as well. Families welcome which is rare in Edinburgh.
First bar/restaurant we ever visited in Edinburgh and the only one we keep going back to. Food on both occassions I’ve eaten there has been a bit small in portion but very tasty.
However, the best thing has to be the service. First time we went we wanted to try some proper Scottish whisky so we asked the bar man for advice. It was quite a busy evening yet he spent about 30 minutes with us describing each one, brought us a couple of samples (which we paid for) but never asked us to buy any bottles or anything.
Probably the best customer service I have ever received in this country for anything and worth going for that alone.
Bought a whisky tasting for my husbands birthday in Jan this year and was so glad I did. Not into whisky myself but he is a maniac about it so went along and quite simply had a fantastic time - realy enjoyed the whiskies and the presenter was fantastic. The food was fantastic aswell and the place itself very “olde worlde” but with a modern twist - overall just loved the place and would highly recommend.
This is the only bar that I would go into in the Royal Mile as it has a really inviting ambiance with lots of candles and does really excellent food for a bar. The service can be a bit slow but the staff always emphasis that the food is homemade and fresh and that is why it can take a bit longer to serve when it is busy. Hard to get a seat sometimes.
I love going here for a drink - the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff are friendly. Just don't have the food and you'll be right. I had dinner here at two occasions (vegetarian and fish dishes) and on both occassions it was awful. But for a drink it's great! They have a good selection of wines too!
Whiski (previously Clever Dick's) is situated on the Royal Mile. The food is good but the drinks aren't cheap. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to families. They do a great hot chocolate! It's the perfect place to go during the day when it's cold and wet outside. Hours can pass very quickly. However, at night it can get very busy and cramped.
