This pub is my favourite on the Grassmarket. I’d say the decor is traditional (lots of dark wood) with a few historic bits and bobs referring to the pub’s name, and the yellow lighting results in a warm and welcoming glow. The service is not overly friendly but alright enough. I’ve had food here twice - I was pleased to find that they offered a good selection of vegetarian dishes. I’ve had a vegetable fajita and a spinach/cheese pasta and both were nice. In summer it’s nice to sit outside, but be ware that it gets busy at night, so get in early if you want a seat inside or out.

This old traditional pub provides a good place to enjoy your pint and a hot meal if you wish. What makes this pub different to others you may ask? The answer lies in its name. There is something more to The Last Drop, a piece of history right outside the door. Before you enter the pub take note of the area where people used to be hanged, like the name suggests this is the area where many experienced their last drop. Whilst spending your time in this pub its hard not to think of the history outside the door, even if it is a little unnerving.

I have been to this pub at night before and it is a nice place to go…outdoor seating, has toilets, not to pricey AND it is in the grassmarket! I decided to hit it up middle of the day for a drink and the crowd was definitely different. Besides a few younger people scattered about, the crowd was mostly older folk (think 60’s) and they didn’t seem too friendly (I shared a table with a guy who was just plain grumpy!). I know it isn’t the Last Drop’s fault as to who goes there, but I would say because of this, it isn’t a great place to go during the day.

Cheap, cheap eats. And local ales. What more do you need?
How about a prime location (in the center of the Grassmarket)? Or historic interest? They used to hang people on a gallows just outside, you know. Not the Last Drop folks—angry mobs, I mean.

Service is fantastic, food is good and served in hearty portions (I recommend the mixed sausage platter, the guiness pie, or the haggis) and the ambiance has an old-world pub feel. Be wary of peak times, though—the Last Drop can get crowded to the point of unpleasance. Lots of locals, enjoying a quality pub—the crowds are par for the course.

Very busy pub, especially at the weekends or on days of large sporting events. Good quality service from the bar and waiting staff. Good food menu with a lot of specials (Steak Pie is recommended) Traditionally decorated with two large screen TV's to watch sports...time delay between TV's becomes a bit annoying though if you sitting in the middle of the pub but everything else more than makes up for this

The Last Drop is quite small and always seems to be crowded in the evenings. I like the atmosphere and the décor. It’s simple, traditional, central, and shows sport on TV. When it’s quiet you could pass a day watching the world go by or chatting to friends. When it’s busy it’s buzzing and, if you can get a seat, a great place to socialise.
