Absolute rubbish. Took our clubhouse booking (£125) and then refused to let us in as they couldn’t access their records. No refund given after and completely arrogant and unhelpful. Very stressful experience.
Made to feel like royalty!!

If I’d realized how nice this place was I would have turned up first thing in the morning for my afternoon flight and made a day of it. I would also not have had a haircut a week previously.
The only downside is that it makes me wish I had a bit more cash to my name so that I could add to my 1 visit behind the curtain of luxury!

no I didn't see anyone famous unfortunately.
If you have the time get a nice massage or treatment at the Spa - but book early as slots are limited.
It is not the same as in a “real” Spa, but, hey, it’s free (well kind of, you paid for the upper class ticket :)

I like the shoeshine and the deli bar.
It’s great that Virgin provide this level of comfort.
Compare to the US airlines which are Yuk.
Ask the staff to smile more though

Food quality is good, service is average, and prices are quite reasonable. For it’s location, this is not bad. However, there are plenty room for improvement.

really good food. A bit expensive though

This is the nicest possible prelude to a flight. You can order any cocktail, beer, wine or spirits that you can possibly think of, and the selection is dazzling, believe me. The buffet is of epic proportions, and contains not only fresh hot and cold food, but an excellent cheeseboard. And the Cowshed spa is wonderful, though the day I visited, the hot water wasn’t working so I couldn’t take advantage of some of the treatments.
This place makes checking in 3 hours early desirable rather than strictly essential. Seriously worth contemplating the upgrade. And an upgrade would make a fabulous wedding present for honeymooners.

5 stars - the perfect place to be before your flight - lovely food and a relaxed environment before your flight.
If you can afford to go in it is well worth it

I love this clubhouse :) It is probably so great as it is at Virgin Atlantic’s main hub and so it is massive. I have been to their old lounge at Heathrow which was also nice but this one blows that one away since opening a couple years ago.
Yes you see famous people but more importantly, they see you and are blessed with your presence. The good thing is you don’t need to sit near the celebrities as the lounge is massive and there are all sorts of corners to hide in. You can easily avoid their stares and chatter and coming and asking you for autographs.. so annoying. I guess they have nothing better to do except admire us normal folk.
Anyway, the food is pretty decent and of course all free. I have only really been around breakfast times and so there is always an array of help yourself pastries and snacks. You can also order larger meals off the menu which come promptly. The food service is good and personal. Also, if you like to start a little early, the massive bar is always open and you can order anything.
They closed the smoking area inside the lounge because they banned smoking in all of Heathrow. There is an out door area upstairs which also bans smoking.. don’t smoke up there because they will kick you out. It is a fire hazard because you are so close to the planes.
If you get to the lounge really early, you can take advantage of free haircuts, massages, and facials. I have had a face massage, back massage and hair cut. I say the hair cut is the best because they are a major salon and the employees go through tons of training even after being successful hairstylists.
The massages are okay. Having done them so many times, the masseuses, albeit completely trained as well, follow the same patterns and never really push too deep. It really only lasts about 20 minutes and by the time you get relaxed, you get the boot :( (but it is still nice anyway!) I think they also do manicures and pedicures.
Get there early to enjoy the facility and relax, you can watch tv, read the paper, eat drink and get priority boarding. Also get there early if you want any of the above mentioned treatments which are all free as well, they fill up fast! If you are flying on Virgin or from terminal 3, I believe you can buy access to the lounge although it is usually only for gold and upper class flyers. If you are upper class though, you can check in at the counter privately, go through private security and straight in to the lounge.. limo to lounge in 10 minutes is the truth!

I travel alot, and sometimes this is a real chore. but if i know there is any chance of getting into the virgin clubhouse, it always makes me feel alot cheerier about the day.
its like the great living room in the world, but with world class food and services. My time spent in the lounge ussually constites of:
Finding a seat and ordering a glass of wine
Glancing over the menu for something to eat
Walking over to the pool table, and possibly challenging someone,
If its the weekend, watch the sport on the massive screens,
Maybe get something sweet from the self serve dessert section.
By the end of my time there, i dont really care if my flights been delayed
I gotta agree with slowdog's review of the Virgin Clubhouse. As far as I know, it is the best place to be during that inevitable wait at Heathrow. Worst part for me is the knowledge of its existence when I’m at Heathrow but can’t access it. However, I’m going to go out on a limb and disagree with a few other reviewers - there are a few other airport lounges in the world to rival it.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the best lounge around. Well-designed mix of areas for eating, relaxing and working, and a great choice of food and drink to make you forget the horror that is Terminal 3 check-in and security.
Free wi-fi access (ask at reception for the login details) is the icing on the cake.

Well, I am only going to echo what everyone else seems to be saying about The Virgin Clubhouse- it is incredible. Virgin is the best airline to travel with- the staff are the best, the travel comfortable and I have never ever had a problem when flying with them.
Waiting for your flight you can relax in an armchair and sip a cocktail, have a massage, watch a film, have a haircut, play games- anything!
Absolutely fantastic- I'd rather have spent my holiday in here!

I don't think there's a better airport lounge anywhere in the world. Virgin Atlantic pumped a lot of money into this lounge and it really shows. Beyond the movie theater TV screen, the incredible (free) food and drink, the massages, hair salon and video games, the location is phenomenal and the space is well laid out. They even have a rooftop terrace that affords an incredible view of the airport for those that are aviation inclined. Definitely worth the price of admission.

I have to echo everything anhunter says - this place is the business. I also have to add that it's a regular celebrity hangout. You are pretty much guaranteed to see someone famous in here! Last time I was sipping cocktails with Paris Hilton, and Andrew was discussing the latest Harry Potter with JK Rowling. I'm glad it was that way round, since I've never read Harry Potter or seen any of the films...
It's a perfect match to Heathrow - the worst airport in the world - since your flight is sure to be delayed! Heaven, but be careful of the mid-flight hangover, it's an absolute killer.
This is without question the best airline lounge in the world. If you can afford an upper class ticket (or you manage to blag an upgrade) get to the airport early. You won't regret it.
The Virgin Atlantic clubhouse is sensational. Completely OTT, but that's what i love about it. You can be pampered in the spa, get a massage, a haircut or just laze around in one of the comfy arm chairs sipping champagne and eating delicious food. There's a pool table, a cinema screen, old school arcade games, a library, an office, need i go on....?
Branson the bearded crusader has got it bang on with the Heathrow lounge. If my flight was ever delayed, i'd probably be happy. I'd just slip off my shoes, order another long island and fire up street fighter 2 on one of the arcade machines.
Utter perfection.
