I must say, I did have an excellent time last weekend at Club Med Athenia. However, this had more to do with the fact that I attended a wonderful conference.

If I had booked the place myself as an individual traveller or with my family, there would have been things that are not fantastic. Given that Club Med generally is not cheap, I would probably have been disappointed.

The resort has only 2 of the 3 possible stars of Club Med's internal rating system and this is true: The resort dates back to 1965.

Good:
- nice beach, which was virtually empty early October.
- crystal clear water which I did not expect near Athens
- great amenities for a conference: theater, stage, discussion rooms

Not so nice:
- the atmosphere in the room was a standard 3 star
- bathroom as well, see pictures
- the food was absolutely ok, but the selection at the buffet could simply not compete whith what I had in recent 4 star hotel resorts. No fresh juices for example, but juice, coffee come from the standard cafeteria machines.
