Great venue, Great food and Great staff and oh yes it does help when its only 2 doors down ha, 1st went to this place a year ago when i was out with a friend before travelling to dubai the next morning, not a good idea as it was packed with beautifull girls from around the world but mainley from auz and south africa which is allways nice, anyway more about the venue, they do great food from normal day to day menu’s to some fantastic shared platers, the drink its pretty good to and the staff are fun and outgoing, a great place to go on a fri, sat and i have herd that there sunday is the best in summer as its got heaters, outside comfty seating and a wooden terrace,

all in all a good place to go 5 stars

This place is very 'Clapham’. That said, most places in Clapham are. It’s a little world of its own, Clapham and Gigalum is very epitome of everything Common-bound.

I don’t displike Clapham. Really I don’t. My boyfriend lives here so i find myself spending more and more time here. But it doesn’t sit right with me. I feel really young.

Everyone in Clapham seems to be much older than me, if you’re approaching your 30s, you apparently move to Clapham. I guess once you’re 35 you move to Blackheath?

I like this bar, it’s great for a few beers after a lazy sunday lunch. It was a bit too busy for my liking on a Sunday, but it was fun. Although we left around 6 to go and watch films, I’m not sure those pretty 30somethings had any intention of leaving despite having work the next day!

A large wine and a pint will set you back £8, although my idea of large obviously differs from theirs. I think the boy was drinking Star though so it’s not as pricey as it sounds.

They have some really great live music here and cool djs, although I keep having plans when something cool is happening.

I quite enjoyed it on Sunday, but I still feel like I’m going to get id’ed in here.

One of Clapham’s many places to ‘be seen’, and a short stumble across from the common for drinks after a long summer picnic, this bar features a terrace out front and a large interior decorated with a forest theme. Beers aplenty, the food leaves a bit to be desired. My boyfriend does hate a restaurant he leaves hungry, so if you’re after large portions order 2. They have tried to do interesting things with basic menu staples like burgers, steak etc but not quite there for the price I’m afraid. The best part is the terrace action on a weekend - a friendly vibe and a good place to people watch!

This place is definitely one for the warmer months, if you’re lazing on the Common feeling a little parched then head over to Gigalum’s beer garden. A lazy suntrap complete with it’s own palm trees this is the perfect place to while away summer days. Inside, the bar has less of an identity, the cream squishy sofa’s provide a great chill out zone but the big screens showing the football can make it a lot more rowdy during a match. The drinks here are all good as is most the food, though don’t order the nachos – we got 6! Yes, 6 nachos! The brunches are probably their best offering foodwise, making it a good place to start a Sunday session, moving on to a few drinks later on. I’ve also been to a couple of parties here, it’s definitely a good place to hire / reserve a few sofas if there’s a big group of you. Keep this one for Summer too!

Oh dear. I really can’t think of a single reason to go in here. Nope, not one. I’d rather sit underneath a tree in the Common with a bottle in a brown paper bag. I’ve heard about computerised plot-generators for detective stories and romance novels a la Danielle Steele. If such a thing existed as a computerised bar-generator, Gigalum is the sort of bar it would come up with. Where’s the originality, the inspiration, the ambition? Ah no, let’s just forget about all of that, let’s just make one more bar that’s exactly like millions of other bars. Bah. Gigalum has no character, no distinctiveness, it’s bland and dull. A waste of space.

Situated on the corner of Clapham South Gigalum is a a pretty consistent local drinking option for me. Its always busy with a youngish crowd of people and has a nice outside area and is spacious inside too. Its open quite late on the weekend and the music never gets so loud you can't hear your friends. Have only eaten there once - just a plate of Nachos but they were really good and it does good brunch from looking at the menu too. Areas are available for hire - my friend reserved a nice big area with leather sofas for her birthday which was perfect for a large group of us.
