very cheap and cheerful.
a great selection of starter, main course, and dessert, and it is very affordable. but for the price you have paid, you cant expect the quality of food keep to good standard.
anyway, it is very busy at weekend, so please book in advance to avoid queue up.
This has been a family favourite for many years, it's a great place to take the kids. Really cheap, loads of choice, friendly relaxed atmosphere. We haven't been going as much recently though - as I think the place is looking a bit tired, and by that I mean the cleanliness. The toilets are horrible, everything is broken and there's smelly cloths lying around. We've never had a problem with the food, but when you see how they maintain the loos, you can't help but wonder what's going on elsewhere in the kitchen.
Really nice place to go in december when they have their decorations up and chocolate fountain with fruit on sticks to dip in! Good selection, noodles are really nice and they had mango pudding for desert alongside fruit and ice cream making it nice for kids. Noticed some staff eating at a table too which shows how yummy it is! :)

I agree with "bob77" on this place.
It's clean, very noisey at times, but they do go out of there way for any children making them feel special
Jimmy Chung's is a chain of Chinese buffet restaurants in Scotland. Cheap and cheerful, they serve a wide selection of the most popular Chinese dishes - starters, mains and desserts - with a no-nonsense approach. This particular branch is no exception. Generally better in the evening as there is a larger selection of dishes, including hoisin duck with pancakes, prawn toast, sweet and sour, an ice cream machine, fresh fruit, salad, and much, much more. Drinks cost more although they have relaxed their ban on tap water which is a relief. The staff are very attentive, whipping your plate aware almost as you raise the last mouthful to your lips! Great if you're not that fussy about the quality of your food - being a buffet, it's not that great but good enough and regularly refilled. If you tell them it's your birthday they will play Happy Birthday over the tannoy, which can be annoying for other diners!!
Cheaper than it’s Waverly counterpart, Jimmy Chungs on Grindlay Street is good for a cheap lunch during the week.
There’s usually a good choice of starters and mains during the day, and I expect a better choice in the evening, but it’s too expensive at night for me!
There is also usually a good selection of fruit, cake and ice cream for dessert.
its cheap and quick staff never around when u wanna order a drink tho, but damn im hungry just thinking about it
Huge selection of food, desserts, soup, etc. Not so sure how fresh everything is but if youre looking for something that won’t take ages to cook, then this is the place for you. It’s very affordable so even if you absolutely hate everything, it’s not a huge loss.
I’m not keen at all on buffet style restaurants but my gran loves Jimmy Chungs so I take here here when I’m in Edinburgh.
This does what it says on the tin - offers a decent choice of batch made chinese food at a really cheap price. The food by any standards is surpassable. The place is always busy with families, groups of friends and there’s always a good atmosphere.
With Jimmie Chungs you get what you pay for with some bad service. Good choice of food pretty the standard isn’t the same. But for lunchtime, a buffet can be perfect and it is cheap so you cant really complain. Couldn’t hurt the staff to smile though.
Jimmy Chungs is the best Chinese buffet restaurant in Edinburgh (and there’s a few of them!)
The food is lovely and the choice is very good. It’s a big place and caters well for families as well as large parties.
It’s location is very central as well.
This is one of the best Chinese buffet restaurants. It’s more expensive at night but the food is better night. They don’t like big gangs of unnacompanied teens. Can’t think why!
I had a mixed experience at Jimmy Chung’s. On the one hand, it was reasonably priced, and the food was pretty good. It is a buffet restaurant, so you can eat as much as you like from a typical daytime Chinese buffet menu - lots of batter, no expensive meats or seafood, but all very tasty.
On the other hand, I have a bit of social anxiety, and despite the spacious, open plan arrangement, I found it a bit claustrophobic. There are no windows, and I felt a bit uncomfortable there.
One thing that quite stunned me (and appalled me) was a letter from a customer that was hanging on the wall by the entrance. The customer was complaining that a bunch of mentally disabled people were making too much noise and had upset her son, and was requesting that in future they move any disabled groups to a corner where they can’t upset children. I found it very insensitive, and was baffled why the letter had pride of place on their wall!
this is a really nice chinese buffet, very big and spacious with a huge choice. Very cheap and cheerful, great for a big crowd, as its noisy place.
This is a very nice chinese buffet in Edinburgh. The food is good and there is lots of different styles of food to choose from. The restaurant is clean and tidy and very well presented and the staff are friendly. It is close to Princes street and all the other main shopping stores and also the train line, which you can take after having a meal there.
I was very impressed with Jimmy Chungs in Edinburgh.
All staff members were keeping everywhere clean, and the food was being replaced constantly.
The food tasted very fresh and was nice and hot.
There was a huge selection of starters, main courses and desserts - including gateux.
I would certainly visit this restaurant again next time we are in Edinburgh.
For all you can eat chinese, this is by far the best place I’ve found in Edinburgh, although you do pay a bit more for it. The crispy duck and pancakes alone are a reason to pay a little more for it!
Jimmy Chung's is great if you fancy a quick lunch/dinner, there is a good variety of food available and as it's a buffet , you can eat as much as you want...so it's my kind of place. Unfortunately can get really busy at the weekends and on special occasions and you have to queue but there is generally not that much of a wait and this can be avoided if you book in advance. Good meal option if you are feeling a bit adventurous and want to try some new tastes without commiting yourself to ordering a main meal
