4 reviews of Phones 4 U in English
When I think sales man I think Phone4U. These guys try every trick in the book to sign you up. Their shrewd approach has built them a reputation that I just don’t like. I would never buy a phone contract there. They polite fellows at Car Phone Warehouse are much nicer. They don’t jam the contract down your throat and why is it that the Phones 4 U people always speak the same way! Same tactics, same directness. Buy buy buy deal is only for today. Next time you go in watch the tactics. Okay sir/madam sit down and I will go through it for you, they try and cram you into a corner and make u sign. I think one day I will go in there, pretend I want a deal, sit down spend 30 min with the guy trying to get me to sign, then have him print the paper work and then turn around and say no I think I want an iPhone now, I’m going to CPW. LoL

These guys are crooks; you must avoid them at all costs.
I got my phone and contract from them about a year ago, and I’ve had nothing but trouble and frustration. First they break you down by making you fill out a mind-numbing array of forms, including completely irrelevant questions about your hobbies. The next step is to completely ignore the information you’ve just given them when they present you with different phones and price plans. Was the sales agent deaf, I wondered? Who knows. The whole process was painfully slow, and several times my agent left me to ponder their atrocious taste in music for up to ten minutes at a time.
Of course, these are only complaints about their service. But what was worse was that every step of the way I was given misleading or wrong information about various aspect of my contract. Just to mention one thing, their buy-out option is an absolute joke. Incidentally, they had refused to confirm to me in writing that they would offer to buy me out of my contract after 12 months. As I discovered, they had good reason to do so, since the so-called buy-out option is subject to a number of restrictions, which appear to be secret until you try and avail yourself of it. Firstly, you must sign a new contract with them. Secondly, there are many restrictions on the new contract that they will offer you – I was given the choice between a contract that was much more expensive than the one I already had, or a cheap contract where the buy-out fee wasn’t included. Excuse me? How exactly is that supposed to count as them buying me out? So I’m stuck with my Nokia N80, maybe the worst phone known to mankind, for another six months. But in a way it’s worth it for not having to have any further dealings with Phones 4U.

Andrew Hunter, 10 October 2007: Sharks. I'd avoid the Carphone Warehouse too. They are up to similar tricks.

Phil Chambers, 10 October 2007: Get a cheap Nokia from eBay and sell the N80, you'll probably make some cash back that way. You can have a 6210 that the battery last about 2 weeks in and is indestructable for about 20 quid...
