The Food here was well good, pretty reasonably priced for the portions. Service was quick and the beer was cold and tasty. Ace for lunch.

Excellent place for both food and drink. The breakfasts are to die for and you always get a good pint (Not always the case in Edinburgh)

Staff are always helpful.

Also and as a bonus you can watch almost any sport at any time of the day.

A lively pub in central edinburgh which always has nice beers on tap, friendly staff to serve you, and good food to tuck into. Also a good basement area for live sport. What more could you possibly need?

Well reccomended place to go for a drink.Excellent food menu also.Always a friendly atmosphere from the bar staff.
Also televised football on in the downstairs bar where all Arsenal matches are shown.

just been to scotland on holiday , stayed at the hilton just round from this fantastic Gastro Pub . The food was better than the Hiltons i could not believe it . The staff were very friendly and made me very welcome. Well done . The steaks were out of this world …

what a great bar , was over on holiday from the US . they food was the best i ate when myself and my wife went out . Was far better than any of the fancy Resturants . well done and i will be telling all my co workers , if they visit edinburgh this place is a must .

went on a rugby match day, atmosphere fab, food great value and tasty and staff really helpful, they even looked after my old dad (he’s 75!) cant fault it

The Mercat has a well stocked bar and serves good priced, cooked on the premises meals. The Pub is always busy and has a small covered area at the front to cater for smokers, though during summer this is opened up so the customers inside can enjoy the fresh air aswell. Well worth a visit and a good start off pub if beginning in the West End
