i can highly recoomend this restaurant on Lothian Road, which successfully combines the favourites from a chinese menu, and introduces people like me to traditional japanese fare. A good time to go is at tea time - about 6pm. This is the calm before the storm, and the best spot to sit if there are just two of you is right in front of the bar where they make the food. You can sit mesmerised watching them work, before they serve you delicious, warming food. Washed down with Asahi beer this is as good as it gets!
