This belgian watering hole has been here a while so I thought I’d bob in and see if it is still going strong.
You can certainly see the signs of wear and tear (the loo doors look as though they have been painted to block out the graffiti a couple of 100 times) but it is still a reliable place to come within spitting distance of highbury & Islington tube.
The drinks are fine, the schnapps sticks are still quite good fun (a wooden block with as many shots as you can order racked up awaiting their soon to be merry recipients) even if the likes of revolution vodka bars have taken the idea and run with it - the flavours are a little limited.
But one real plus is the quality of the bar snacks - we had squid rings, which frankly tasted great and their fries are a reliably tasty source of carbohydrate on a drinking afternoon. The branch in Clapham always did some very good food offers. Their real food (as opposed to the snacks) is reliable and a decent price too.

the belgo bar!!! about 50 different beers to choose from! and especially some beers you can't find anywhere else such as the trappist beers and moreover the kwak... those beers are pretty strong and the degrees can go all the way up to 10 (careful not to be knocked down).
they are all served in their original glasses whose shapes go from the posh one to the odd UFO-looking one hold by a wooden frame.
the décor is very modern and you can be sure that designers had great fun doing it but it is still nice and weirdly comfy.
the food is good too, with their big plate of cold meat that you can share and their mussels. (is it belgium or not?)
probably better to go for a big night out with 10 to 20 friends than for a date, the value is good and the place relaxed and chilled.

I like the vibe here - it's cool, relaxed, and stylish. The bar area is funky, albeit a little crowded, but the food is good value, and the beer - OH the beer! - is fantastic. Such a great range to choose from. (The fruit beers were pretty popular on the night). We did have some problems with our reservation, but they made up for it with free drinks. So all in all, a good night for a group meal... and don't forget the drinks.

The Bierodrome in Islington is one cool place to drink at. I have been there a few times and have always been made to feel welcome by the staff.

The bar is in the middle of room and you can walk all the way around it, really cool, funky decor. Great leather sofas over the left hand side of the bar. Lots of mirrors on walls, the interior designers put a lot of thought into it!!!

Went there on my first date and it's makes a nice, chilled afternoon drink as well as a weekend haunt. They have got some great beers on offer, I recommend one of the trappist beers, but at 9% they are for people with an aquired taste! They have various fruity beers such as cherry and banana which are a little bit weaker at 3%.
