Wonderful Stilton the best we ever had ...we used the full Stilton as our " Wedding Cake " went down a bomb with all our guests...when I rang to arrange the full Stilton I found the staff well informed helpful polite and the price was very good . Many thanks for a wonderful service and for making our day even more special...Mike Eden

I admit I never would have thought of going out of my way to buy cheese anywhere but Sainsbury's (blushes) so it was kinda a new experience to stop in here when a co-worker just needed to pop in.

I've never seen so much cheese - I've obviously lived a sheltered life.

I only bought a small piece of the Lancashire when I went back on my own, I felt badly because I took ages with the nice people going out of their way to help my 'try' and learn before I found something perfect...

I'm really looking forward to going back and making the perfect cheese plate for my next dinner party - now if only I could find a place like this for the wine...

The best cheese shop in London, and they also sell some pretty good artisan bread.

The staff are happy to advise (and often offer samples to taste), and I've never been disappointed with the goats cheese or mature cheddars I've purchased here.

A haven for dairy lovers everywhere, Neal’s Yard is a cheese appreciator’s paradise. If you’ve only ever experienced Tesco’s value cheddar melted on toast, take a trip to Neal’s Yard and prepare to have the doors of your cheese perception blown wide open.

It doesn’t matter if you know nothing of the world of curds and whey, the staff will be happy to guide you through what you’ll like and what you won’t, and you can have a sample nibble of things before you get your wallet out.

The lactose intolerant need not apply.

The Neals Yard Cheese store is an amazing store located near to Covent Garden. They sell a good variety of cheeses from British to continental ones. The store is not very big but it is always full which is a good signal. They have some specialities difficult to find anywhere else.
The prices vary depending on the type of cheese but are not very expensive.
I have tried several cheeses from this shop and I was always very satisfied with the quality (and the taste!).
The staff is very friendly and let you taste the cheese before buying it, they also can help you to choose the perfect cheese for every occasion.
You also can order online.

I’d heard the whisper of Neal’s Yard Diary long before I stumbled across the shop in Covent Garden. I wasn’t quite the cheese lover I am now back then so I approached with caution, on the other side of the street, making sure to breath through my mouth. It was an early summers day and the combination of the balmy weather and the crowds buying cheddar and Stilton had forced the door open. The smell was pungent. Now, my immature taste buds have gathered their senses and begun a love affair with the stuff so now I go gawp and inhale the smell of the the great wheels of British cheese that are on offer and sometimes vernture in to buy myself a slab of something to take home as a much appreciated treat for my equally cheese loving girlfriend and I. One complaint. There’s too much to choose from.

If you’re a cheese freak then you can’t go to London without a visit to this cheese shop in Neals Yard. It’s 5 mins walk from the main Covent Garden square, and can be difficult to find if you’ve not been there before, so print out a map this site provides.

They stock hundreds of cheeses, most of which you will never have heard of. They’ll happily provide you with a sample, and you could spend all day checking out all the various cheeses, but you’ll soon find some that you’ll love and have to take home. The shop is pretty small, but that adds to its appeal, and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Prices aren’t cheap, but you are getting exclusive, unusual cheeses, that will be talked about at any dinner party.

“Of all the cheese shops in all the world…” Well, you won’t find one much better than this. Neal’s Yard has for many years been the destination of choice for organic devotees, and the Dairy has been there for over 30 years, doing what it does. Having a hunk of cheese cut you from a huge round of organic farmhouse cheddar is a wonderful, aromatic experience. Then they give you a sliver to taste. Sheer bliss, and a great end to a meal too.

It’s hard to think that I’ve been shopping from them since they started up in Neal’s Yard (30 Years ago?) and thankfully they have pretty much retained the high quality over the years.

Their stilton, cheshire, cheddars are all excellent. They do aim for and achieve a certain rustic-ness that will not be to everyone’s taste, but I know it is to mine. I’ve often bought cheese from here to take to a dinner party as an unusual gift.

They also make excellent sandswiches from their cheese - not to be forgotten if you are in the area at lunchtime!

This is a brilliant little-known place in the heart of Convent Garden.

There are a few restaurants in the yard, including a vegan/vegetarian restaurant and salad bar, and a world cuisine restaurant and pizzeria.

There is a very good hairdressers, that supposedly Peaches Geldof is know to use, a Slam City Skates Skate Shop, and a few other "Niels Yard" buisnesses (Bakery, Dairy, Remedies) and many other shops:

It is also famous as one of the places where the famous comedy program "Monty Pythons Flying Circus" was written. (there is a blue plaque commemorating this).

Go to covent garden. Walk down to seven dials, and wait outside the Cambridge theatre for a second. Breathe in. Breathe out. Take a long good sniff of the air. If you follow your nose to the cheesey scent emanating from a side road, you will find your steps leading to the fromagerie brittania, (or neals yard dairy in laytalk)

With barrels of cheddar lining the windows, to the goat/sheep/cow soft cheeses piled upon the slate countertops, this cheesemonger is the crème de la unpasteurised crème of British cheese:

Lincolnshire Poacher, Montgomery’s cheddar, Irish Coolea, Gorwood Caerphilly, Innes logs, Stinking Bishop and cheese I can’t pronounce greet the nose and the eyes with each gaze around this cheese Disneyland.

Try the wonderful quince paste, and any cheese you want. And if you haven’t ever eaten the Colston Basset Stilton, you simply must. It is without doubt, the best cheese on the planet

What a delight this place is! It’s cheese heaven. At the door you’ll be assigned a cheesemonger, who will give you their full attention, as well as their expertise. You are invited to try the different products, and they will find you just the right cheese to suit your requirements. We picked up a large chedder for a Christmas present – the receiver absolutely loved it. It’s a great place to peruse even if you don’t plan to purchase any cheese… although let’s face it, you will probably leave with some.

Since 1979 Neal's Yard Dairy has had a passion for the very best in farm cheeses. Specialising in providing quality cheeses from small and often family run producers in the British isles, the selection is succulent and matured to perfection.

According to Matt Owen, manager at Neal's Yard Dairy, they like to think of themselves as 'the best cheese shop in Britain.' Perhaps that is because they take the time to ensure that effort is put into the maturation process. This means getting the temperature and moisture correct, so that your purchase is the tastiest ever. There has been a conscious decision made to not sell an extremely large range of cheeses, but to offer a smaller range with much greater care. They offer a limited choice which they know can be passed on to you in the best possible condition.

Once inside the small store, you are able to have a taste test of anything you want. This offer includes the different oils, chutneys, and yoghurts that are available, and of course the cheeses. In this way you always know just what you will be taking home.

There is next day courier mail service available so when ever you get that craving for a nibble of Montgomery's Cheddar, Colston Bassett Stilton, Appleby's Cheshire, or any of the other tasty varieties available it is only a phone call or a trip to Neal's Yard Dairy away!
