Food is ok but the place is dirty and the interior decor is cheap jack DIY and has not been modernised for years, a clear cut case of ALL PROFIT AND NO INVESTMENT .Also the upstairs is disgusting and the toilets are unclean and they stink, you can smell the smell of urine coming down the stairs into the eating area………………………………THIS PLACE IS VERY SUB STANDARD FOR THE PRICE . Final verdict …ok if you want to eat cheaper and take a risk with your health , as they say if it looks dirty on the outside, the kitchens must be far worse. NOTE SOME OF THE OLD REVIEWS………….PROBABLY ALL FALSE AND WRITTEN BY THE OWNER AND HIS STAFF,JUST LIKE MANY OTHER COMPANIES DO TO PROMOTE THEIR BUSINESS……………and as for the best in the area…………..try LOU,S…………………ive been there only once but its ten times better than the scruffy HO BUFFET !
Deservedly an absolute monument in Newcastle, never overly busy and the longest I've ever waited for a table is 2 minutes. Staff are respectful, the food is quite honestly brilliant and a fantastic place to grub up and carry the banter! £6.50 for all you can eat is an offer lovingly cemented into my mind.

Are you starving? Contrary to the fast food and with not so much pounds? Here we go! Chinese kitchen buffet, not quality foods, but good comprise price/quantity ;) Dishes are edible, some really goods.

We visit Newcastle a couple of times a year and we always go to the Ho buffet [have done so since it was Charlies']. We look forward to a large selection of good food at a very reasonable price, and like other reviewers find the staff friendly and pleasant. Not ideal for a romantic dinner, but for quality, choice and value for money first class! Will be there soon!
I visited Ho Buffet on Friday 22nd October 2010, at lunch time. I really liked this restaurant, the staff were friendly, and it was reasonably quiet (apart from our large group), so there wasn't much waiting round at the buffet counter! Also, the total price (including a drink) came to £7, which I thought was fairly reasonable. Admittedly it probably wasn't the best food you can get in the China Town area, but it was certainly very nice! I'd go back in the future.
This is the “most” favourite buffet restaurant for my entire family for the past 8 years (since the days it used to be called Charlie’s). If you are someone looking for authentic Chinese food, you probably won’t like it here, but what Ho’s offers you could be called the best “British-styled Chinese” culinary. Be it happy hour lunch time or the grand buffet later in the evening, there is always something for everyone – from kids to grown-ups. They have a good spread of appetisers, main dishes and salads. Deserts is good enough for the prize with a good range of cakes and ice creams.

For me the best buffet style Chinese restaurant in the area, not necessarily the best Chinese but still good food.
Just off stowell street with what has been a permanent building site opposite, this place is situated in a good little spot of it's own and has for a few years been my favourite buffer style Chinese in Newcastle.
Both the quality and choice is very good, including mussels in black bean sauce and shredded duck, both a dream. One extra bonus is a selection of sauces to accompany, with a very spicy chilli sauce which I can't help myself with.
A good price for a buffet and a very good meal.
