Shopping, shopping, SHOPPING!

This street streches from the wonderful Zavvi, the pub and food shops well beyone the MASSIVE department stores and Selfridges, where the lovely Lola’s cupcakes and LUSH chocolate cakes can be found.

It is a mecca for all who visit London for good reason - it is simply thick with diverse shopping opportunities. From small shops selling cheap clothing and leather through the wonderful waffles and Beard Papa’s cream puffs right on to the department stores of just massive proportions, this street has everything.

Regents Street bisects this wonderful shopping mecca, offering more shopping opportunities!

First off I want to tell you Oxford Street is massively overrated. It’s a clone high street: loads of big name shops you can find anywhere. It’s not pretty at all. It’s overcrowded. The only shops that are really something you won’t find elsewhere in Britain are the tourist outlets. And there’s only so many places you can see selling things with picture of the Big Ben, the Royal Family and Tube maps on them before they get reeeaaalllllyyy boring…

I want to tell you it’s massively overrated… but… On the other hand there’s the HUGE HMV, HUGE Virgin, HUGE Borders…. Hennes, Dorothy Perkins, blah, blah, blah. Any chain snack bar you could want. I think as a tourist attraction it sucks, but for serious shopping, you can’t help but get sucked in occasionally.

Oxford Street- it is incredibly crowded and seemingly full of people unaware they are taking up the whole pavement and then stop right in front of you causing you to trip over them. Not the most pleasant place to go on the weekends, for sure! But its not all bad. Obviously there is the shopping itself- there is a decent selection of high street shops, I particularly like shopping for shoes at Office, Shue and Next. There are numerous Starbucks and other cafes along the way in case you need a caffeine infusion, or a snack. If you are going to tackle Primark, know that its never empty. Never ever ever. That being said, early morning is still probably your best bet. And don't go unless you're going to get a decent amount of stuff, otherwise its not worth waiting in the long lines. And don't save it until the end of your excursion- you'll be too tired to deal with the hassle!

The whole of Oxford street on its own is a wonderful attraction for every female being. I want there several times and I could never get tired of it. There are enough shops for a whole afternoon out and for every type of fashion style. Topshop, Debenhams and Selfridges are just few of the places were I would spend my Christmas holidays. This is really one of the most interesting streets in the UK. There is so much to look at and SOOO many clothes to try on.
