Since the "Hühnerhaus" opened next doors, I think the whole terrace is suffering a bit from their smelly, cheap neighbor.. it's better inside.

We are one English Berlin resident and one visitor from London – we are such fans of this restaurant because the food is simply delicious, the hosts so friendly and the location so accessible. We don’t think anyone should eat in Berlin without stopping by here!

This is without doubt one of the best Thai in Berlin. Their famous Pad Thai totally lives up the expectations, but the real deal here is the whole fried fish. Just amazing, with a perfect balance of taste with the rest of the dish. And it’s huge, man! Moreover, nicely located, very friendly service, decent decor for a Thai place and good music. Just, not the best Tom Ka Gung I have ever had, but still.
Definitely a must go if you like Thai food!

I have been living in Berlin for 5 years, and I sometimes tell people who visit that Vietnamese is the stand-out Asian cuisine here. Indeed it is pretty lovely what those Vietnamese Berliners whip up. I was always a bit disappointed that there are not so many authentic Thai eateries in town, until I was introduced to Chai Yo by a born-and-raised Berliner friend. Right in the heart of Kreuzberg 36, this place doesn’t look hip and trendy so it can be easily overlooked by those who don’t know what to expect, but the quality of the cooking and the friendliness of the staff goes unrivalled. I have been to Thailand before, and this is the real deal. If you want an authentic, tasty and unpretentious experience, check out Chai Yo.

The service was super friendly, I had to double check I was still in Berlin ;-)
Waiting time was good, price is also very ok.
After reading the reviews here I expected the food to be really excellent but I was a bit disappointed, maybe because of the high expectations, maybe because I had a takeaway and without the transport it would have been better. Just to be clear: the food really is good, better than most of the thai restaurants I found in Berlin, but I was expecting 10/10 and it was 8/10.
Still: in dubio pro reo, so I give a full 5*

It was so good, we went twice on our last trip to Berlin. Wonderful food and great hospitality.

Incredibly good food in a really nice place, in the heart of kreuzberg.
The restaurant is far from every asian clichés and works mainly on the quality of the food.
The chef is very kind and he will come and take some time to talk with you… and he has a lot to say. So i can only recommand to go and try it.
And it’s cheap… something like less than 20€ for the meal, drinks and coffee for 2.

This is really a great Thai restaurant in the heart of Kreuzberg. I am a true lover of genuine Thai food and this place hits the spot for authenticity and flavour. As my father said on our visit there recently ’it’s actually better than any Thai dishes I had in Thailand’. I think that is all that needs to be said! Love their ‘spice scale’, but be warned level 5 will have you sweating!

The food was great and the atmosphere very comfortable. Unassuming little place with very friendly staff. I'm really glad we stumbled onto it (thanks to Qype ;-)) during our stay in Berlin. I'd definitely go back on my next trip.

Chai yo serves great Thai food, without any "magic powder", Glutamat, or flavor potentiator. So far I have tried all vegetarian (some even vegan) dishes and allways have been delighted by its taste, freshness and variety of ingredients.

I've been eating regularly at Chai Yo for more than 3 years. Sometimes I go several times a week. It's the best Thai food I've had in Berlin and New York City (except for a small place in Woodside, Queens). The ingredients are fresh and the seasoning delicious. It's as spicy as you want it to be. The atmosphere is peaceful and pleasant, the service friendly, and the beer refreshing. I especially recommend the fish.

This is a great place right by Görlitzer Park with a prime selection of Thai food. I've had nearly half the menu and it has all been fantastic. The price is a little more than most Thai places but it's well worth it. The often play a great music selection too!

Chai yo deserves all the praise it gets. It’s really good, clean thai food and the prices are totally okay, too. Probably one of the best thai restaurants in Berlin.

Great place! I’m always on the lookout for a good restaurant close to where I work, and this place is easily the best I’ve found. Both the food and the service are excellent, and the lunch prices are very reasonable (around 6 Euro for most dishes off the lunch menu). And, as others have mentioned, they speak excellent English and have a full English menu, which is always a nice bonus.
