70 reviews of Greenwich Park in English
Greenwich itself is a beautiful location and very unkown but it has great architecture. definitely advise any one to visit.
Really like this park. A friend took me there and although its a bit far for me to visit on a regular basis I still try to pop over a couple of times a month. Wide open expanse and great views. The air even feels fresh here almost as if you are in the country side. A recommended visit.

this is my local, i love it. well maintained. hosted the olympics, home to the observatory. That greenline you see in the sky over the thames, it comes from greenwich park! The new maritime museum looks lovely. the view over london is spectacular from the park. childrens play area and a pond near the bottom of the park. a garden area near the top as well as deer in an enclosed part of the park near the top (which i have never seen i might add).
lots to see and do. and eat. close to cutty sark, gypsy moth and greenwich pier. aswell as blackheath on the other side.
I grew up around the corner and spent most of my early years at the park. If you have the time to explore it there are hidden gems – the herd of deer, the roman remain (well, a couple of bricks), the nooks and crannies and the view over the Thames to the Isle of Dogs. Greenwich University has taken over the Naval College and opened a visitors Centre so that there is even more to explore in Greenwich – even without the Cutty Sark
This park has the most amazing view over London. I like going there whenever possible to get my mind off of things and just relax.
I visited Greenwich Park a few months ago and I enjoyed my visit. The park itself is well kept and wouldbe lovely to hav a picnic on a summer day, though you would have to make sure you got there a bit early if you were wanting some shade as it is more open spaced with shade on the paths. You also can visit the museum at the top of the hill for free, and get to take your picture of meantime! A great day out for the family.
Great place where we spend all Sunday. My kids enjoy visiting the park. There is a great space for them to play, run around and a great view for all.
A fantastic place to take the kids. Plenty of open/safe space for them to play. Beautiful wildlife on a sunny day.
It is the perfect park during the weekend to relax. This park is really big and you can have a perfect view on London and its suburbs.
Such a nice Place in London! It's different to Hyde Park, beacause of the distance to the city-center! I think this place is magic... it's the place where the prime meridian is located! for a geography-student... that's outstanding!! ;)
In addition the journey to Greenwich with DLR is special... i love the viaducts though the urban jungle at Heron Quays!! 5 stars - no discussion ;)!
Visiting Greenwich Park, which I did for the first time on the weekend, feels like an escape from London. Everything is quieter and calmer. Even the hordes of tourists don't seem so irritating.
If the idea of escaping from traffic jams and pollution for a few hours doesn't appeal to you, then the view over London should. It's definitely worth the short but steep uphill trek.
I haven't properly explored this park just yet - I hear there are squirrels and deer and flower gardens - as I headed straight for the Observatory. But I'm really looking forward to spending some more time in one of London's best parks.
Greenwich Park might be the most central park in London, but it certainly is one of the prettiest. At least to me anyway. I've been lucky enough to attend numerous picnics here, and each and every time I've gone all weak at the knees with the sheer lush greenery and rolling hills situated all around me.
Close your eyes and you can practically see Tudor ladies strolling around the park in lace and petticoats trying to catch deer and the eyes of a handsome young man in pantaloons (for the love of God, someone please tell me that I'm not the only woman who pretends that she is a Tudor lady when she's walking around Greenwich Park!)
Best of all, Greenwich Park is full of squirrels - really cheeky ones too who will try and nick your sandwich if you're not careful. And it's got a great little pavilion cafe situated by the main gates too where you can stop for a nice cup of tea and a sticky bun if it's all getting a bit too much. If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, why not try walking up to the top of the hill near the Observatory and looking out over South East London? It's a view not to be missed, even if the skyline is dominated by Canary Wharf and some big grey (rather unscenic) towerblocks.
Greenwich Park is a truly gorgeous bit of urban green space - and a place you really must visit the next time you're in the area. Just watch out for those cheeky squirrels!
alexsheppard Went there for the first time this weekend and fell in love! Can't wait until I move :-D

Despite being one of the largest cities in the World, it's nice to see that within the souless industrial glass, metal, and concrete of London, places of beauty such as this still exist.
Having been here on a school-trip many years ago, I just didn't want to leave, heh, I coulda' just pitched up a massive tent and lived it out here for a while and enjoyed nature, and being away from all of the un-friendly approach of the City.
That's not to say that the City is un-friendly per-se, but that I'd rather throw a blanket out here and relax for a few hours, than have a ton of tourists treading on my size 13 feet.
Anywhere you can lie on the grass without being propositioned is cool in my book!
Greenwich Park is a wonderful retreat with amazing views across the city and docklands. It’s a great place to sit in the sun and just watch London from a distance.
The perfect retreat on a sunny day, Greenwich Park is not as far as you think - and loaded with fun things to do. There’s Greenwich itself which has so much village charm, the museums, observatory, planetarium, market…
It is a good idea to beat the crowds by getting there a little early, just as everything is opening, arrive for 9ish, have a nice quiet stroll and then sit in a cafe and watch the streets get busier and busier :)
I can thoroughly recommend Greenwich park - especially if you have children. Great for picnics in the summer, and stunning in the autumn. Apart from the fantastic playground, there is so much open parkland to explore, as well as the deer to watch and ducks to feed. For those 'is it going to rain or isn’t it’ days, the National Maritime Museum overlooks the park and is a great distraction, even for little ones.
I grew up in south london and always used to enjoys trips to greenwich park, and still now I love to return and enjoy so many aspects of the p;ark- the observatory, the naval college, or just walking around or having a picnic!also there is an ornamental garden and some deer somewhere! a great place to go and relax for the afternoon!
Greenwich Park is a fantastic place to sit and watch the world go by on a nice day.
There is always something going on - people playing rounders, couples picnicking, families enjoying a game of catch and people simply soaking up the sun or taking in the fresh air.
Plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants surround the park, and there are also local sights such as the maritime museum and greenwich observatory to explore.
i LOVE Greenwich Park. Avoid the flat part down by the King William Walk entrance/Maritime Museum as this gets pretty busy on warm days. Wander up the hills to find plenty of lovely tranquil spaces to relax and chill.
Lets hope the Olympics don’t do too much damage to this great park, even though they will be building a large auditorium and closing parts of the park during construction. Oh well, the Olympics… that’s a whole different, depressing story. So, just enjoy the park and book your flight out of the country in Aug 2010 now
