I can thoroughly recommend Greenwich park - especially if you have children. Great for picnics in the summer, and stunning in the autumn. Apart from the fantastic playground, there is so much open parkland to explore, as well as the deer to watch and ducks to feed. For those 'is it going to rain or isn’t it’ days, the National Maritime Museum overlooks the park and is a great distraction, even for little ones.

Greenwich Park is a fantastic place to sit and watch the world go by on a nice day.
There is always something going on - people playing rounders, couples picnicking, families enjoying a game of catch and people simply soaking up the sun or taking in the fresh air.
Plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants surround the park, and there are also local sights such as the maritime museum and greenwich observatory to explore.

i LOVE Greenwich Park. Avoid the flat part down by the King William Walk entrance/Maritime Museum as this gets pretty busy on warm days. Wander up the hills to find plenty of lovely tranquil spaces to relax and chill.
Lets hope the Olympics don’t do too much damage to this great park, even though they will be building a large auditorium and closing parts of the park during construction. Oh well, the Olympics… that’s a whole different, depressing story. So, just enjoy the park and book your flight out of the country in Aug 2010 now

Greenwich Park holds so many memories and special moments for me and for a lot of people I think. It is a stunning park with so much to offer and it has so much history. I have been to a lot of parks in London and I seriously believe that Greenwich Park is the best park in the whole of Greater London. My favourite part of this park is the flower garden. The gardeners work consistently hard every year to produce fantastic and colourful flower beds. No dogs are allowed in this area, and I find it is the perfect place to go on a summers day to sunbathe and take a picnic!

This is a great tousity park to visit, as not only is time governed here and you can stand on either side of the Greenwich meridian, but it is also a fantastic big park with a very large lawn and beautiful views from the hill top over London.
At the Greenwich observatory there is a little museum which has very interesting facts as to the beginning of time measurement. However even if you are not a history buff this is still an intersting place to visit and it is in close proximity to the Cutty Sark and the river taxis which offer a lovely trip down the river past many of the famous sights up to Westminster.
This is a nice place to visit for a day out of exploring London.

I live quite a way from Greenwich park but when I do go down there, which is usually in the summer, I find I have a good time. Near to many different shops and local places and I find it quite easy to get to, it just takes me a while. Very big park with a nice little play area which my little sister loves. Nice place to go and feed the squirrels too!

I bought my mum and dad to Greenwich Park when they were here visiting. It was a sunny afternoon on Sunday… they simply loved it. It is quite a large well kept park.. great for dog walking and lazing around. The Maritime Museum is good for family outings. If you get a chance to… go up to the top… you will get a great view of Canary Wharf! Each time I go there… I love it… never will I grow tired of it!
It also offers a good place for picnics, softballs or simply reading a book on the grass!

Considering you are slap bang in the centre of London, this is a really nice, clean, well kept park! The kiddies play area has even got a changing room to change your baby’s nappy, toilets are clean, the boating lake is good fun and the hills are good exercise.

Greenwich park is a wonderful place to go on any balmy British summer afternoon. Beware though that parking is pricey and if it’s a hot day you’re best to get there very early. Disabled parking is free. The parking is at the top of the park entry from Blackheath. There is no parking in the bottom of the park at the Greenwich side. During the summer there are donkey rides for the kids and the views from the top of the park are absolutely stunning, looking down over the National martime museum and the naval college out onwards to the river Thames. The royal observatory is situated at the top of the hill in Greenwich park so there is plenty to see and do. This will be the site for the 2012 equestrian events in the olympics.

Greenwich park is my favourite park in London. I go there when I want to excerise, relax, ponder, make myself feel better and to admire the scenery. The view of London is incredible on a clear day and in the autumn the trees are such a beautiful colour. It is extremely well kept and clean and there are good facilities too. There is a little café up at the top of the park and one at the bottom gate too. There is the Royal Observatory and Planetarium which are really excellent and also well worth a visit. In the summer many people flock to the park and it can get very busy, but if you choose your day/time carefully you will have a very nice visit.

A great big park, I would recommend taht if you visit this you do not do so in bad weather, or Winter or late afternoon in Autumn if the weather isn’t really good as we did that and it was very windy and miserable due to the open-ness of the park, and the trek up the path to the observatory was uphill so we didn’t make it that far in the end (is a bit of a walk). However, I would love to re-visit in the Summer as I can tell it would be completely different and perfect for picnics etc.

Going here feels like traveling right outside London. Greenwich park, especially in the summer, is a beautiful place to spend the day. The atmosphere tends to be relaxed and chilled out, and best of all, the views of London are second to none. Go to the observatory for the best views of the city, bar none.

I love Greenwich park, it holds so many memories of my youth. We used to come here and feed the ducks and terrorise the poor squirrells. My grandad proposed to my nanny here and it was by the bandstand that I had my first kiss. The trees here as some of the finest example that you will find in the world, the gardens are beautiful and well tended. There is deer to be seen and orchestra stand that plays frequently in the summer. The veiws are amazing and are wirth the treck up the hill. If you want to visit and are slightly infirm, thn I would suggest packing at the Blackheath side of the park rather than the Greenwich side.

This park is a special park. Not quite sure what it is about it, even in the evening as the sky darkens, it is breathtaking. It is so vast, I can’t say I have ventured it all, but it is really something. I have had a picnic here with a few girlfriend(s!) and it really is a wonderful spot for sitting or walking or just looking up at the sky. There are wonderful water ponds with the relevant birds, don’t know the names of them! There are also ice cream vans every so often and it is not far from the town centre!
Just go there, you won’t be sorry!
Highly Recommended!

Been living in SE London my whole life and as a kid always loved to visit Greenwich park,, it is such a big park, and you never find that it is over packed,
they have a small boating lake which is nice for the small kids, or the big ones that don’t want to grow up :)
the swing park has always been something i loved as a kid, and is in great condition.. this i would say is the best park in London, and always love to visit it on a sunny day.
Also have the top part of the park which has parking, but that does get rather busy on a nice day, and you will be fighting for a space.
Also there is a small park at the top which is the gardens and you can bring ur monkey nuts to feed the squirrels .

A great park with a fantastic view from the top of the hill - bring your camera! At night, the glittering tower of Canary Wharf acts as a beacon, making a great shot. Lots of fillms have included this backdrop. The park itself is quite large - if you’re into running, you can do a circuit or two, including climbing up the hill for a bit of extra exercise! (It’s much easier coming down again!) Or if you fancy a more pleasant stroll, you could make your way through the park eventually ending up close to Blackheath. There is always an ice cream van or two waiting patiently at the main gated entrance for a chance to put one or two calories back on! just make sure you don’t get locked in - they lock the gates after dusk!

In my humble opinion this is the best park in the world, it has beautiful flower gardens lots of wildlife (go armed with nuts as the squirrels are the most fearless you’ve ever seen and will take nuts out of your hand) a wonderful history and can fulfill any park needs that you have. It’s lovely for a romantic winter walk, a summer picnic or an adverture with your children. There’s a brilliant play area and a boating lake in the summer plus amazing views from the observatory. The pavillion cafe has yummy food too and rather lovely homemade ice cream if you need a snack. There’s also other points of interest including Queen Elizabeth I’s tree where she used to lock up wrong doers inside the hollow trunk (creepy!)

The children’s play area at the bottom end of the park (near the boating lake) is one of the best for pre-schoolers - really good equipment for crawlers and toddlers. There is a cafe in there for ice creams or coffee - and a huge sandpit that my 2 year old is obsessed with!

many happy hours spent here as a kid. the feeling of open skies and expanse is all a park should be. lots of families spending weekend time here, kite flying and the obligatory bad football. stroll to the observatory, or to Greenwich village or market for plenty of pleasant distraction.

Greenwich Park is one of my favourite bits of London and, best of all, it’s free!
If you’re in Greenwich and you have a spare hour, you could do a leisurely circuit of the park - starting at the entrance near the boating lake, stroll up the path in front of you, bear left at the junction and go up the hill. Watch out for cyclists and rollerbladers as you turn right along the road at the top then, after a few yards, go into the flower garden on your left.
If you follow the path through the flower garden, going clockwise around the lake, you’ll pass the deer enclosure (the best time to spot them is early in the morning when they’re still waking up and lounging around under the trees). Carry on along the path and turn right before the gate to take you back past the other side of the lake. After the lake, go under the trees and turn left, then go through the gate and cross the grass past the bandstand on your right.
Cross the main road and bear right across the grass to join the path heading to your left. If you then follow that path along the edge of the park and down a steep hill, you’ll pass the herb garden on your left and come to the Cow & Coffee bean cafe by the main entrance - a great place to stop for a well earned coffee!
My only complaint about the park is the way that the police drive their van all over the place, disturbing the peace and forcing people to jump off footpaths as they pass. Why can’t they leave their van parked somewhere and patrol the park on foot?

Greenwich Park is a fantastic place to laze around in on a hot summer’s day. The view of the Maritime Museum and the river and the Dome is gorgeous. My top tip is to buy a tub of ice cream at M&S in Greenwich before you enter the park, and eat it with a loved one as the sun sets. Magic.
But something the existing reviewers haven’t considered about the park that it’s also ideal for running in. The gradients are enormous, especially on Observatory Hill, so the same course you’d do on the flat is worth twice as much exercise-wise - and take comfort in the fact that whoever has the courage and goes up must, eventually, come down! Get the gluts of your dreams in Greenwich Park!
